There are 2 probable scenarios in my opinion. Both are AI dependant. One scenario is music will become more and more flat and predictible because composers will push the AI in the area where ‚most people’ are with their likes. The second scenario is creative composers will push the AI to the areas nobody explored. Well, there is this third scenario when both ways rise parallel and this is the most probable situation. Anyway, AI will be in use!

In ten years I see Native Instruments leading the pack of all music production hardware and software...I really think that future music creation will keep evolving with so many genres merging we will have endless categories of music and with NI to control it I see no ending!!!! I'm here for the journey!

AI will saturate the music industry and the 'value' of music will drop significantly makingi difficult for independent musicians to compete. AI will be the primary driving force for music editors (for television shows primarily) when their company can generate AI driven bumpers and hits for reality tv. This will hit the music producers who focus on these genres for royalties hard as prodution companies will rely more and more on AI formulae to create their content rather than working with production libraries. I'm not trying to be Debby Downer here but I have a feeling it will cause some serious issues for those of us in this market. Of course there will be those few who refuse to create with AI or find ways to augment but still use real musicians but for mass-consumed media why pay someone when they can just generate it? I'm hoping that the talent shows through the computer generated material but lets be real, those industries are all about the money and will go the cheapest route, regardless of the content. So, for me AI will be a big issue over the next 10 years. Good and bad, mostly bad for those who rely on the income that they work hard to earn.

The way you present yourself shall be way more important than the actual music in many cases. If the approach feels weird and eye-pleasing at the same time, it shall gain some traction for the persistent creators. Cinematic/library-based music will continue to grow, too. However, music as we know it, of all styles -and combinations of them, shall definitely still be a thing 🤞

Music continues to find new ways of construction and opportunities for exposure. In recent years there has been a remarkable increase in mergers between sound and visual artists to create entertainment for communities. We continue to find new ways of creating and modifying sound; NI’s playbox series is a fine example of new tonal palettes composers can employ where movement provides new dimensions to their listening experience.
i predict we will continue to find new outlets for artists. I suspect there will be increased collaboration and new ways for artists to integrate available technologies like AI into their production. I hope there are better outlets than streaming services for artists to monetise their work and improvements to the tools available to communicate performances to the public.

perhaps the future....holds support for the past,
technology, technique, ethos n vibe.....and even operating systems
inclusive....financially and therefore creatively
the future is open source
(and browsers that don't glitch ha)

All popular music is cleverly formulated (programs / software) and heavily controlled by a small number of global software providers. And at some stage in the future nobody makes fresh music, it will all be controlled by AI.

I believe AI will change the music world drastically just like tractor changed farming.
I think as musicians now matter how much technology thinks they’ll be able to replicate feelings it still won’t bring the same meaning we as humans bring to the game.
Take this change with a grain of salt and try to use it to your advantage as an artist.
We all have a different & equally important story to tell as musicians/creators.
Tell your story and have confidence in what you create. Remember you are one of a kind and no robot will ever be able to recreate that :)

10 years, I can't tell you in 10 months! ha My guess, as others have, is that AI will be heavily incorporated into all aspects of music. There will still be musicians of course, but music will be heavily influenced by AI tools and writing. We'll still need NI for making some great and unique sounds though!!

Music has no limits. It's hard to say how it will be a decade later. I hope we are well and keep our ears open

I think music is going in a more AI and electronic base. Chat can already help you program DAWs and plugins to do specifics.

Musicians possess a unique combination of creativity, emotional expression, and interpretive skills that make their craft difficult to replicate entirely with artificial intelligence (AI). While AI has made significant advancements in generating music and mimicking certain aspects of musical composition, there are several reasons why musicians are unlikely to be completely replaced by AI:
- Creativity and Originality: Music is an art form that thrives on innovation, originality, and creativity. While AI can analyze and learn patterns from existing music, it struggles to generate truly original ideas or concepts. Musicians bring their unique perspectives, emotions, and life experiences into their compositions, resulting in a rich diversity of musical styles and expressions.
- Emotional Connection: Music has a powerful ability to evoke emotions and create a deep connection between the performer and the listener. Musicians possess the ability to infuse their performances with passion, nuance, and personal interpretation, which can deeply resonate with audiences. AI-generated music, on the other hand, may lack the emotional depth and genuine human connection that musicians can provide.
- Improvisation and Adaptability: Musicians often engage in improvisation, spontaneously creating music in response to the present moment. This skill requires a deep understanding of music theory, harmony, rhythm, and the ability to interact with other musicians in real time. AI, while capable of generating music based on predefined rules, struggles to adapt and respond to dynamic and unpredictable situations.
- Expressive Interpretation: Musicians have the ability to interpret and bring out the intended meaning and emotions embedded in a musical piece. They can apply stylistic variations, dynamics, phrasing, and articulation to convey a particular mood or message. AI-generated music may lack the subtleties and nuanced expression that musicians can deliver.
- Live Performances and Audience Interaction: The experience of attending a live musical performance is unique and irreplaceable. Musicians engage with their audience, create a shared energy, and adapt their performance based on the audience's reactions. AI cannot replicate the spontaneity, energy, and interaction that occurs during live performances.
While AI can certainly augment the creative process and serve as a tool for musicians, it is unlikely to fully replace them. The human element in music, encompassing creativity, emotional depth, improvisation, interpretation, and live performance, remains invaluable and integral to the art form.
