Is there really no way to save cpu on chains not being used? If say an osc, filter or fx are not being used why are they eating CPU? How Do I Get my VST Plugin to Open Properly in Reason 13?

Creating a midi signal with a reaktor button
I'm trying to trigger a midi note using a button, to send to another device, but it only seems to work if i have an envelope and oscillator connected. The signal sends to the device fine, but as soon as i disconnect the audio in reaktor, the midi note is no longer produced. It feels like a bug - it's driving me mad!
