AI will be heavily leveraged in plug-ins and physical instrument software. Not only based on music or specific key but human emotions or images, maybe color pallets.

I think concerts are going to move to being less in person events, more streaming. But also I think that there might end up being more frequent events since the need for travel and touring will not be necessary. Also I think this might also end up being more crowd sourced experiences, Iike the fans influencing what the set list and setting of the performance will be. Possibly AI could be involved in the background imagery. Definitely these performances will eventually be a VR event, making the fan feel like the artist is performing just for them.

I could even see the artist interaction with the fan AI deep faked so it would look as if they mentioned the fan by name personally.

What I’m really waiting for is a hologram performance right in my livingroom!

The futur of music is trending towards AI I beleive. Certainly for electronic music! It could extend from tools to complete music production. Tools for finding song matching tempos, keymatching and similar songs gendre that already exist. But the future could also extend AI for tools that makes suggestions and corrections for song creators. Like if a professionnal producer would be in your studio. Maybe share song ideas with song composers. AI could also give different alternative for different drum, bass, ect patterns you already recorded. Maybe, create a new sound design after having a small chat with you to learn what kind of sound your looking for. But it could also go to the extend of making a whole song. And this could happen faster than we can imagine. Sooner or later, I truly believe that AI is the futur for music creators.

Spotify will not get 20k of uploads/day, but 2M.

Every big old artist will record new songs through AI. Michael Jackson and Prince will top the charts.

In the future Native Instruments will get rid of something you paid good money for, and you will no longer be able to activate it.

Definitely AI will play a huge role in the production of music. Personally, I think we can only extrapolate linearly, but the reality will be exponential. The AI we have now is weak in many ways but in 10 years, we will be able to guide it to almost push-button creation of well crafted and interesting tracks virtually indistinguishable from those made by humans. AI will power plug-ins that will immensely augment the musical thoughts of producers and be able to add richness to the stems that form a track and provide powerful capabilities for the mix-down

Look for a revolution in high-def consumer experiences. Immersive concert/listening environments. The up/down (now Atmos) dimension not just realized, but in demand. In cars, in ears, at home, and live. This will happen. The earphones/AirPod revolution expanded the listening population; exposure to music done sonically well will create advanced desires—in fidelity! : )

I envision more standalone hardware for DJs and Live performing like a machine+ machine Jam and taktor incorporated into a single device for a single production/performing device.

I've been playing with music since 1962, MIDI on my Atari 800 since the early 80's and just updated my studio tech with some NI equipment and a new computer to replace the MIDI based Windows 98 Second Edition setup. In bringing things up to the present I have found that it is now possible to easily create really uninspired music quite easily. Even with the advent of AI music will still have a soul that will show through as truly creative people will make music that will still touch us as it has for centuries.

So I asked chat GPT to write some marketing spiel on the benefits of AI in EDM. This was the tepid response it produced.

I work with university students and they (like all generations) have feelings that could use musical expression. They will take the music world to new places that express what youth need these days. They are resourceful, intelligent, and have good creativity and humor flowing!

The next ten years, a lot of tools will have new synthesis methods for sound generation including AI sound design. Video will be huge for musicians to start out; We live in a social media environment, and I'm surprised there aren't more video generating and authoring tools out there by major music software developing companies, because the sound/music is just really the beginning.
