I think future music will be a blend of AI and organic sounds. Computers will be more clever but I think "real" instruments will taking a bigger part in producing music.

The next 10 years will see a complete move away from hardware synthesis to a midi controller and software synthesis.

More independent channels for distributing music; eventually better pathways for dealing with intellectual property and compensation for creative work.

The world of music, and especially eElectronic and Experimental music, seems to be focused on sensory integration, including surround sounds in the clubs themselves.

We will see how it advances and at what speed, but it's a fact to take into account, because with the Holographic visuals, combine in an unparalleled experience, bringing the film envelope to Dance floors, Festivals and of course, to any home and/or person who has a surround sound system to enjoy...

I leave the AI to others, because it helps especially those of us who are starting out in music production to get ideas, but it doesn't create the song for you or compose it for you because it's you who has to structure it and do what you have in mind.

Music making will become more accessible to more people as technologies evolve. Technology will take away barriers for newcomers. It allows musical geniuses to become even greater versions of themselves. I foresee a very bright future where styles seamlessly blend together creating more styles and more variation in the near future. The translation of emotion to music will become more efficient allowing the next wave of musical greatness equal or better compared to the influence of the guitar.

The music world will of course evolve but a catchy melody and good production skills will still be the essential

A growing number of semi-visible instruments will be developed, based on electromagnetic fields from a phone or watch, like a more complex Theremin. Shows featuring virtual musicians (like ABBA Voyage) will become the norm, and tickets will start at £500. Chinese pop will go global in the way that K-pop has in the past decade, and the worse it is, the more popular it will be. Sad banger chord progressions will go out of fashion and be replaced by drone-based acoustic music (not bagpipes though), and then by something resembling happy hardcore (only faster and entirely AI-generated), but then sad bangers will come back in again towards the end of the decade as if nothing had happened. Finally Bob Dylan, in his 90s, will write his best ever song, and AI will give up in disgust.

Exciting and unimaginable advances in music and tech will happen the next decade. AI will most likely be a source of debate for the next hundred years. I think it will be an enjoyable decade.

I think that AI is actually going to make musicians want to become more organic in their music making. We want to keep originality and creativity alive, while the world just wants to automate things.

I believe that the feel of music recently skewed by AI and otherwise will dissipate and lend way to producers being able to wear many hats, yet be able to "feel the music". AI is no doubt causing some waves but Im guessing more and more people will want to feel that vibe, get that rush, and feel the music in their bones! Just a thought :) Thanks

Pretty over the top AI talk, while for Maschine Mikro mk3 no official Ableton Mapping script exists yet - afaik.

Most popular radios will still be 80s hits radios.

Hardware should be more modular and sustainable. The ability to mod it and put it together like lego would be reasonable.

We are, as creatives, in the midst of revolutionary changes brought about by increasingly sophisticated AI tools. In music creation and production, AI will become a "collaborator" on every aspect of the process, from songwriting, composition, arrangement, production, performance and recording. I expect Native Instruments, as a leading light in the industry, is already researching how to incorporate AI into their technology and I can't wait to see what they come up with.

there was a song about silence, neon lights, and things dark and damp...

as far as the future of music, how far into the future do you wish to go... as it is likely the humans will develop the means to communicate direct via "thought waves". so if you could think you, you can share it. the spirit of music

now the dark and damp... the greatest threat AI poses is that to the will and imagination, convenience will cause stagnation: humans will become stupid and lazy as machines progress to know the greatness and beyond that once was with their creators.

the near future some daft punks have already shown us
