NAMM 2025: Introducing the NKS Hardware Partner Program

Appear to me as if I were right on the money .
Does this mean that we could possibly see keyboards made by other brands that will offer full "Direct Connection" and "NKS compatibility" to a degree where they will offer more or less the same experience as the S-Series MK3 keyboards does with respect to e.g. the use of Komplete Kontrol and kontakt 7/8 ? To me it appears as if N.I. are going to license all the technology to give other manufactures the ability to make sort of 'clones' of the S-Series keyboards ?

It is unlikely that anything will offer quite the same experience as Kontrol S MK3.
However, think of it like this…
NKS is a range of capabilities split between version numbers.
NKS as a whole is now open to 3rd party hardware manufacturers.
How many of those capabilities they implement will depend on what each hardware is capable of supporting, and how much work they're willing to invest.

Seeing these plugins running on the touchscreen of an MPC Key (and beautifully might I add) breaks my heart a little….as I stare coldly at my Kontrol MK3.

Could you please stop tagging a guy who isn’t posting from months? It’s getting ridiculous… (does he even exist?)
Also a thank you for trying so hard to kill the company we loved and on which we invested so much money.
And props for missing every single release in the last 2 years (unless we want to consider the rushed release of K MK3 a success, since now we know why it was released in that unfinished state: otherwise, if done after this announcement, it would not have sold a single unit)
Before your comment will be “I'm not sure I understand. Do you have a specific question?”, here is one:
What do you think of the fact that EVERY SINGLE MOVE made in the last years has been so badly received (at least by people who are here from long time, aka your users base)?
Don’t be bothered to answer, I already know the answer (we are just complainers…). You can ignore this question as you do with all others that you don’t like.
To be clear: I don’t dislike the move to open things to other markets. What I dislike is you not having enough manpower to work as a big company like NI should and deciding to put all your time and efforts ONLY in things that can generate new sales, leaving behind what is your duties: fixing things and eventually giving people who gave you their money better experiences.
What is important is generating sales, not giving good products or fulfilling your duties, isn’t it?
BTW: I’m an owner of a MPC Live 2 and Force…that will NEVER see any NI product loaded on them… your attitude towards your users don’t deserve it7 -

Thanks Matthew_NI 😀
I guess that the answer could also be that we could see something that will offer more or less the same experience as Kontrol S MK3 , provided that they're willing to invest enough in making the hardware and acquiring the licenses 😁
(of course at the moment then more or less no hardware have the hardware capability)

No, I won't. I'm tagging in the responsible party who will respond when he is able.
The last thing I'm trying to do is kill the company I work for. That's also a deeply personal accusation, don't you think? I just try and build cool things users enjoy with my team. You know me a little - we've chatted in person too. I appreciate the work you do, the art you create, and enjoyed our conversations. Not sure what I've done since to upset you to this extent, but I'm sorry that I have.
To your question in caps: simply put, I do not agree. We have millions of users, every single one of whom matters, but not every single one of whom is happy. To say carte blanche that every single move made has been badly received simply doesn't match with the market reception of the work we've done, or even the sales rankings of the hardware that some here purport has "failed". We work extremely hard, and since I've joined, transparently, to earn that trust. But not everyone will be happy. We're also catching up to some things certain predecessors left stale. That's what Maschine 3 is about, and even the recent Battery 4 patch. Much overdue!
If there are other questions, I'm happy to answer those too. I've been here very consistently doing just that, so I'm not sure that anyone would agree I "ignore questions I don't like".
I appreciate your comment about personpower. I'd love more of it to. We do the best we can with what we have.

As I have told you in previous discussion then I do not share things from private meeting (or semi-private Discord) in public due to the privacy of it all. However I do not think that I am doing anything wrong by sharing from joint conversation that Chris_NI recently told that he has been swamped with work but that he thinks that he will be slowly returning to participating more among other in the forum !

this is good.

It would seem to me that NI are starting to pull out of hardware development, instead leaving that to other manufactures and going in the direction of supporting those parties with their software. It would make sense given that there doesn't seem to be any movement in releasing a new Maschine 4 / Plus to replace the aging current models.
The latest Maschine software update was at best a half hearted attempt to keep it alive
Given this announcement I can't see why anyone would invest in an aging and inferior product now this company is showing more and more signs of teaming up with other manufactures that quite simply offer better products.
Personally I think it should be welcomed. If I can use NI sounds on a more reliable and better developed platform, NKS and KK with third party keyboard controllers that better suit my workflow then i'm all for it.

@Matthew_NI You may not be trying to kill your own company, but whoever is responsible for the "big picture" is doing just that. You guys need more employees and overall better leadership…I really do not believe, based on reddit/NI forums/youtube reviews, that your surveys are giving you an accurate picture of what your users want or what you should be doing with your own products. I also don't think you -should- really put out surveys for anything major…like why should it have been up to us whether or not you added Tempo Changes to Maschine? That's a fundamental aspect of writing music. Rhythm is literally the foundation of music, period. You shouldn't have had to ask me whether I wanted crucial but omitted feature or luxurious but ultimately pointless feature. The team should have just done the work and put out marketing videos when the product was finished. The problem is really the way you corporate tech people think, on a fundamental level. It's like there are funhouse mirrors in y'alls brain, and also a little gremlin operating a machine that makes storm clouds…you all seem burnt out and low-key demoralized by the unrest and negative feedback from your users, but also resentful that we're asking you to do what needs to be done…in addition, you have a warped idea of what does need to be done that is partially motivated by the resentment you may have toward your own userbase. Sorry if I'm looking too deeply into it, that's just the vibe I've gotten over the last few years.

I'm not sure who these corporate tech people are that you're imagining, but that doesn't resemble the team and I. We're the same passionate users of these products as y'all. That's why we're here. I also don't think I've shown any resentment. Let's not make it personal, eh? We're here to discuss a NAMM 2025 announcement about opening up what we do to others.

Thank you @Matthew_NI , for letting us know about the NAMM doings.
I'm sure Chris will come along as soon as he gets his arms around his workload.

Great to see NI opening up their VST instruments to other companies. It will open the door for other manufactures (hello Nektar?) to develop stand alone groove boxes to compete with Akai, maybe.
On the other hand, it just hurts enormously to see Akai delivering what NI wasn’t able to deliver during the 4 years existence of the M+, and I think NI employees can’t even grasp how they hurt their user base by not delivering something like this, slightly ahead of a competitor.

yeah, this may spell the end for what I do sadly.

I use both platforms so I am delighted to see this collaboration taking place. I just wish there was a least a discount for the users that have already purchased these products
