You can already map to Komplete Kontrol with a vanilla controller for preset browsing and parameter controls, though?

Direct integration so we're not reliant on software wrappers (Like KK), is where I thought things where heading?

I'd expect that any NKS partner controller would interact with existing NKS Products directly - Kontakt, for example. Otherwise what's the point and aims of a standard like NKS 2 existing?

This will indeed be the case. Once it ships in Kontakt, 3rd Party Hardware will be able to integrate directly there too. It just so happens that it's shipping first to Komplete Kontrol.

But all of the announced MPC expansions are already available for Maschine?

    Ok thanks for clarifying.

Once in place, does that mean that future plugins which evolve to support direct interaction will automatically work out the box then?

So hypothetically, if Massive-X became directly controllable, would it be detected by the hardware controllers automatically, or would that require a further round of additional integration updates?

One other thing to consider, which i'm sure you have:

When this goes live, if Komplete S Mk2 owners are not included as part of the supported devices I think the community will blow up.

Just remember that they were told that additional processing on the hardware was needed to do tasks such as directly integrating with Kontakt. I appreciate that the screens, artwork, key guide lights etc are a whole different issue.

But not even having basic patch navigation and automapping of parameters is what will annoy users most, if there's budget devices by third parties that can.

To be super duper clear: there is a ton of stuff that does need additional processing to exist.

Those capabilities will continue to be the preserve of Kontrol S MK3, or future 3rd party hardware products that have the processing capabilities to compete.

What we're talking about here resembles an NKS1 style experience, more like the Kontrol A and M series offer.

Yes, but I can't comment on additional plug-ins adding that support at this time. For now, it'll be Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt.

This is fantastic news. Glad to see NKS finally moving towards the open, collaborative ecosystem it always wanted to be…

    What are you talking about?

EVERY hardware owner gets a free Komplete Select since many years ago!

    I have 2.
One from my old Maschine MK1 and one from my Komplete Kontrol S49 MK2

    Do not spread misinformation.

Agreed, my concern is MIDI 2.0 coming in and it doing much of what NKS does on a more global level. I just hope they've got something in mind for that… Or perhaps the thinking is to get out the gate first and get things established, hence this announcement.

MIDI 2.0 being a protocol, still needs a standard for everyone to adhere to, NKS could be the leader here. …If NI wants it, of course.
