    Hi

as everyone has mentioned the TRK-01 is a great kick synth, watch the tutorials

Also Projektor has the Ultimate guide to psytrance kick and bass on youtube so just google that

It does rely on knowledge of synthesis rather than samples he explains about timings and frequency to get great results and explains how the instruments sit in the mix. He uses another synth but Massive or Massive X will provide similar results.

It really helped me out - go for it but remember - Keep it loud

TRK-1 is great to prototype a kick and bass combo. It really quick and easy to use. But I use Kick 2 (or at least layer with) when I get a bit more serious.

For bass….Massive X is an obvious choice. Monark is good too. I have used Razor a good bit for Bass as well.

Whatever synth you use for bass you want stability in your sound more than anything. On the program side look for oscillators that will restart on each note as well as have adjustable phase. Going deeper into that subject can be a bit nerdy but there are tons of Vids on YT.

And of course your most stable version of either Kick or Bass will be a resampled one.

Nice to see a lot of new faces here! Maschine is the most brilliant medium for creating those snappy kicks and deep bass sounds.

Also, I whole heatedly recommend trying expasions for kicks. There are more than 100 expansions for Maschine out there. Also, better check out those Play Series instruments. I bet you can find some kicks and bass sounds there.

Since there are many off topic posts here already, is it a good place to ask whether the "nonexistent" Maschine devices used for a recent Maschine expansion related offer on the main page were mock-ups for a smaller footprint Maschine devices? Something you'd put on top of your Kontrol MK3?

This is one of my first Psy Trance on Maschine MK3. Now I used experience and apply it on M+ and in one project I was able to make two . I found Everything for the Psy Trance in the One shot's and loops during the searching for Ambient Drone Space Ambient Music and I was surprised that Ambience and FX contain crazy amount of everything I was designing, resampling ect. Tonic Kick and Bass synth simple no Resonance patch are enough for further Resampling and making Layers with the same Kick and tight Bass using Compressor or Filter which I prefer. Saturation is must for Fat Bass...

I'm a great believer in layering "background" textures made up of found sounds, field recordings, old video tapes, vinyl and so on. You can then process the sounds very heavily using Guitar Rig, for example. Ultimately, you're building up a sort of ambient "wash" that you can then automate to create a rhythmical feel. Or just use it as another "colour". It's a way of "painting" with sound that can build a lot of tension, movement, emotion etc.

Massive X is ultimate design tool but with internal plugins Amazing results can be achieved. FM8 Monark and Massive are in some cases more than enough for completing the track because it's more about FX and especially Group FX.

Layering Is option not necessity .

If you have solid foundation and interesting FX on top creating a groove (usually flying like mechanism)

Exactly, those are elements which are making kick and Bass to sound better adding a special groove in combination with Kick and Bass

    Filter and compressor side chaining.

Filter will make saw to change color according to Kick and Compressor will make Grove more detailed making sure everything is smooth but Kick must talk to Bass from the beginning.

I like getting anything functional in place for the structure of a Psytrance track and I don't spend much time on the sound design of the kick and bass. Once I have structure and have developed the feeling of the song through leads, atmosphere, possibly vocals and melodies I may go back and spend more time on the sound design of the kick and bass. For me though if all the technical is working and I have a good energy then I its good to go to the next stage of the track.

I like to use percussion one-shots from massive expansions, and then add effects, etc. to get the sound I want. For Bass, I've found Substance (Kontakt Instrument by Output) to be really good, as well as Monark.
