This is absolute nonsense, a big portion of the AIR plugins are very very good, if you aren't capable of making them sound good, then that is something else entirely, note here though that most of the presets on the newer AIR plugins are garbage.

Yes, there is such an intention. I held on while waiting for the update of maschine +.

There's that other guy too, who's been doing Reaktor stuff for Maschine+

    NI should employ these guys!

I think the problem isn’t that we cannot run a full, unrestricted version of K8 in standalone mode. The problem is that we still cannot ‘simply’ export a M+ compatible instrument that can be used on an updated version of the ’Kontakt Player for Maschine’ in standalone. The problem is that NI didn’t build an ecosystem wherein pieces of software and hardware ALL work flawlessly together.

Let me repeat my suggestion. Let us buy full K8. Let us buy full desktop libraries or instruments. Give us the option to export slimmed down versions ourself for use as a ’Instrument for Maschine’ that can be used in an integrated ’Kontakt Player’ in registered Maschine SW on desktop and M+. Maybe it could be made that smart so it could use some features from K8 that are already part of Maschine.

Same thinking should be done to integrating Kontrol and Traktor. As ’hybrid deejay’ or musician is the new marketing strategy, or isn’t it…?

Although I like the idea in general, I guess this is much more complicated than you might expect and also infringes the copyrights of the Kontakt library sample owners - which often is not NI. Therefore, commercial Kontakt libraries (like commercial Reaktor ensembles) still would need to be optimized and provided by NI.

However, if there were proper tools to export M+ optimized Kontakt libraries and Reaktor ensembles (custom or commercial), it would allow the M+ ecosystem to grow continuously. With the RUL becoming one of the major contributing factors.

For sure it’s complicated, that’s omega of the reasons why we pay for the goods and services. To relieve pains and maximize gains. But that’s not on the copyright side of things. Because NI can still implement controls to allow this particular export with or without reassembling, modifying, etc. or not. It’s all within their own ecosystem.

And yes, it would need some planning and preferably an agile development approach and release. Beginning with a ‘standard’ K8 compatible player for Maschine, so without the extra bells and whistles. Simple, sample-based instruments… to serve their own (still loyal?) user base first.

dude, you can already export Kontakt patches for M+ from Kontakt 6. We dont need anything new, you just need to learn how to use Kontakt 6 & Reaktor 6

NI isnt willing to endorse doing it because they cannot guarantee every possible Kontakt & Reaktor patch that works on someone's computer will also work on the M+. Endorsing would be more trouble than its worth. This doesnt mean stuff doesnt work tho..

Wouldnt doing this break copyright though? AFAIK, the samples in those libraries are still copyright controlled by NI..

Safer just to make instructions/tutorial on how everyone who owns a license already can roll their own..

I wouldn’t be too worried about “infringement of copyrights”. That’s a matter that is taken in consideration only when it’s in THEIR interest. *

They gave us Autosampler in the end, didn’t they? (Of course it’s not the same thing…but…you got my point).

Sampling in general (when not used legally) it’s something that lives on the razor’s edge.

    * Partially related: have you seen the news of NI deciding not to sell the Scarbee’s libraries anymore from 01.01.25? Scarbee having to announce it (NI didn’t) and declaring they will re-release updated versions (also changing the names, since they cannot use them) because they are not allowed to sell them anymore. Surely NI holds the copyrights, and in this case they are interested in the infringement

"you can already export Kontakt patches for M+ from Kontakt 6"

OK so if a new Kontakt instrument comes out that requires Kontakt 8, and you want to export a project using that to the M+ standalone, how would you go about it? 😁

Repackaging and redistribution of commercial sample libraries for a new platform is something completely different than (re)sampling for your own purposes.

If NI provided tools to automatically convert and optimize (commercial) Kontakt libraries (by any provider) to be installed as User Content on the Maschine+, that would probably be a major legal issue.
