Thanks! We had the Kontrol Mk3 user in mind every step of the way :)

Just noticed that CS-80 is listed on the 1st page of this thread so is that one official. It still has some of the problems that I mentioned with Arturia's other pre-QA implementations, i.e.

    • Multiple controls for the same thing (e.g. separate controls for LFO rate depending on whether or not is it synced)
    • Non-obvious control names
    • Controls not using the new graphics (e.g. on/off)

There are also a couple of pages with just a single control (e.g. Wah).

If that's after QA then it doesn't really fill me with much confidence for Arturia sorting out the rest of them. Getting the impression that the quality is going to be down to developers' willingness to put the effort in (see Diva and Porphyria) rather than NI driving it…

    Dumb NKS Newbie Question.

I just purchased a Kontrol S61 and Im running KK for pretty much the first time on a Mac Studio Sonoma OS.

For reasons that seem beyond me Native Access wont allow me to download anything - it just crashes upon install. Anyway, I downloaded the Native Browser Preview Library Installer 1.1.0 and that has worked to some degree - but MANY libraries are missing their previews.

Is there any way to access the NKS 2.0 without going through Native Access? It would be great to have previews for the Orchestral Tools libraries, etc.

    Many thanks.

CS-80 broke a few rules in order to be delivered in time for launch. This will also be fixed by them at some point.

Could you please open a specific thread to discuss this?

I think companies such as e.g. Arturia just do not see it as a make or break feature that is important to the user base of their products. Being honest here too, of all the users who bought Porphyra so far, not one has commented that they bought it due to the NKS2 integration features, so I can see that when there is a budget in play and you have to balance returns on investments, this is maybe not a high priority for most companies.

Why isnt NKS2 and Komplete UI listed on support page for first and third party products? Would be nice to know current status.

I think you have three kinds of buyers: Firstly for the sound design, secondly, first movers on expanded hybrid instruments in Kontakt 8, and thirdly, NI/OceanSwift fans (some of which have MK3) - I also own Pathfinder for instance, so was glad to see you back in the game.

Having a lot of instruments with NKS2 implementation, I bought these for that implementation - and actually reason two and three on the list above. And your implmentation is brilliant - it makes workflow and editing so easy.

NKS2 was definitely a factor that influenced me in buying Porphrya. I hope now that NI are making Komplete UI more widely available it will be updated at some point to be more HDPi as well

From where I stand, Komplete UI is in its infancy and it is not there yet as a platform, and it could take time to evolve to where it should be.

One example - there are no waveform or wavetable widgets, so Porphyra can simply not be created there. If it was possible, we would do it.

Still very few Heavyocity libraries supported. Not happy.

No info on Komplete UI either. Voting with my wallet here too. No new purchases.

Thats amazing to hear that you and others in this thread appreciate this and grabbed Porphyra for these reasons, indeed for a smaller developer like us this makes a world of a difference - every crowd you can "hook" is important. All I am saying is maybe for a bigger company like Arturia, if they look at their userbase as a whole, maybe this is not considered by them a big priority. Obviously I am just speculating.

Heavyocity will likely do NKS 2 for new instruments, but there probably isn't a reason for them to do it for older isntruments. Output (you mentioned earlier) are focused on Arcade and AI tools - despite their Kontakt instruments being a solid source of their income - I don't see them ever creating another Kontakt instrument (I wish they would).

You're always welcome to spend your money wherever you want to.

There is always a reason to support the back catalogue. Not very long ago Heavyocity released a new addon library for Novo, so the life cycle story is a bit more complicated. Problem is the core instrument is not really supported well, very pixelated GUI, no NKS2 it seems, yet they expect more money for some new strings sounds. Hard pass for me here. First upgrade the core instrument to extend life cycle, then I may purchase the new addon.

Spitfire just recently released SSO in a new version so there is precedent where we see refreshes. Some smaller updates could be pro bono, maybe a small upgrade/crossgrade fee to cover the dev hours for bigger updates - but just do something to keep the older libraries alive properly. IMO.

I don't disagree - but owning a software developer that relies on subscriptions, I can tell you the focus is always on new features, rather than going back over older features and asking how we can do things better - there's a just higher rate of sales from new product.

That doesn't mean you're wrong - I would love Spitfire to sort their appauling NKS implementations out, especially considering they've moved away from dedicated plugin and back to Kontakt (Kontakt far outweighs dedicated plugin instrument sales). I don't see them doing much NKS/NKS2 revision either.

That specifically annoys me, because if an instrument is NKS, I am far more likely to buy it.
