Agree on browsing in general on NI software, and MIDI mapping on software like Kontakt 8 needs a lot of improvements.

Better meta data for presets in NI browsers

On Browsing, I may have previously asked the team to be consistent with browser meta data management across the different software. A favorite star is not enough. Guitar rig got the color coded dots (similar to Arturia Analog lab) but tbh NI has not really understood the use case.

I would expand this with actual text tags so I can filter sounds for different projects (color dots do not help). Critical NI rolls out these browser features on ALL software for consistent UX (including FX plugins like iZotope)

    Suggestions

    • Text meta tags can be added to a preset
    • Remove favorite star for a better symbol (maybe a three tier rating system)
    • Color coded dots could stay (but I find them less useful, text tags makes more sense)
    • The browser filter should be able to manage meta text tags in a tag tree window (so I can structure it by projects, clients etc, look at the Evernote tag tree)
    • Preferably all browser user meta data should be cloud saved and synced across your devices with NI sofware

Third party expansions not indexing - bad browsing experience

In Browser UX area we have another issue, expansion packs, for instance Arturia Analog lab synths do not list expansion packs in Komplete Kontrol browser, rendering the Komplete Kontrol NKS UX less interesting for finding new sounds. Indexing expansion packs needs to be solved. Problematic if 1st party is better served with indexing presets and 3rd party is left behind.

Third party expansions would be listed for Arturia if they made them, for some reason they don’t (I have asked)

    Some devs do eg u-he

Re Maschine the 3 things I think are most needed in relation to integration with NI keyboards are:

    Aftertouch support

    Browsing on MkIII keyboards

    Aftertouch support

    @MLARS @Vocalpoint

My bad - I misunderstood the current state of the iZo/NI account migration. Have updated my comment above….

Once you unify your NI and iZotope accounts, that allows us to migrate your data from iZotope systems to NI, after which all your iZotope products will show up in Native Access; and you’ll soon be able to install and licence them on new computers using Native Access

So if you have unified your accounts, you've done the right thing, and we'll show your iZotope-purchased products in Native Access soon.

For now, you still need both Product Portal to access your iZo-purchased products, and Native Access to access your NI-purchased products. We're working to make it such that NA2 is all you need for modern iZo products. Product Portal may still be needed for older iZotope products.

Desktop software distribution and licensing is HARD!

Many customers get the feeling NI is stretched too thin internally too. That does not help.

Hope to have access in NA2 soon.

    Hi @Simon_NI,

thank you for your insights and the Community update, I appreciate that very much!

I have just a question, you wrote:

"We’ve already started work on the next major version of Traktor which will bring a high resolution interface and a major upgrade to the browser."

In this context, are you referring with the next major version already to Traktor Pro 5?

I'm not quite sure, since you mentioned a browser update/ improved management of the library in both cases, but normally I would mention Traktor Pro 5 as a next major version.

    Thank you for clarifying.

There's no mention about us being able to use the MIDI DIN Out port when USB is connected?, I understand this feature is currently in beta, so is it to planned to be part of the Arp/Accessibility update as mentioned above?

Yes, this will be included as part of the next release along with the Arp feature.

If Traktor gets a completely redesigned browser please add waveform as a preview! 🫶

@Simon_NI please consider adding some of the feature requests mentioned in the below posts for Maschine and Komplete Kontrol.

I am not talking about some developer time consuming or costly features, just few things that can make our life easier, without any cost for you. For example, some more flexible keyboard shortcuts so we can work faster.

    Thank you

    For Maschine:

    For Komplete Kontrol:

Dear NI-Team, thank you for your informative post. I am fairly new to the community and just want to thank you for the energy you invest in product development, your NKS-partnership program (which I happily started to enjoy today with the KK 3.4.0-update and Launchkey MK4) and your approach to collaborative thinking - especially these days. Herzliche Grüße :-)

Komplete Kontrol MK3 ( Option to pin the browser + Option to add/edit Banks )

    Maschine + Komplete Kontrol MK3 ( Browser Support )

Maschine 3 ( Better Looping features such as Ping Pong / Aftertouch = Ch AT + Poly AT )

NKS Tools ( An app that finally allows users to create NKS 2 ( add edit ni resources, images thumbnails, edit, copy, paste ) Make this an option that ALL users can do with ease.

What about Traktor’s new hardware in 2025? Z1/X1 are fine, but what the people use the most are S2 and S4s, and also there are quite a lot of S8/D2 hardware line update requests on this forum. You know there’s a faithful community of people that have been using discontinued hardware for years because, after all, they offer an unique workflow that we just can’t find at no other brand. Please, give us some love 🙏🏽

And in case you can’t say anything about this, because you are not allowed… why has it to be secret??? Thnx!

Will we see the beta for Maschine+ before that time…? It’s been another 3 weeks (of silence).

And @Simon_NI, what is it you‘re saying here?

I’ve read a lot of people questioning why our two companies are now working together. The reason is simple: NI and Akai share a common mission: to empower and enable creators to express themselves and explore new musical possibilities. While NI’s strengths include our huge, high quality library of sounds and our desktop software, Akai’s MPC series of standalone devices are legendary in their own right.

    […]

For those using Maschine Plus, we plan to bring more content, including some Play Series instruments to that platform later in 2025 once we upgrade the on-device software. More on that below.

With the release of the beta for version 2 ‘still’ running late, and version 3 on M+ not really planned / scheduled (one quarter, max) so in the ‘soon phase’, and some plans for some content somewhere later in 2025, are you simply leaving the new (standalone) hardware development to Akai?

Should we all switch to MPC, so that we can use your ”high quality sounds” over there, as they’re already ”rebuilt from the samples-up for the MPC with presets tailored to that platform”, crafted by (y)our amazing Sound Design team…?

Please man, teach me… as I seem to be as stupid (…or naive) as a rock.
