additional note: I just updated Kontakt 7 on my other MacBook, which has an M1 chip with MacOS Ventura - there the preview works!

@jeremy_NI could you find out, where the problem is? M3 Max oder Sonoma?

    thanks

Mac Studio M2 Ultra on Sonoma and no audio previews, I don't recall it ever working over the course of the past 3-4 months. I will try on my Macbook and report back.

Ok, well I have some more research do now I suppose.

On my Macbook Pro M2 Max it works fine, I am able to hear the audio previews perfectly. Running MacOS 14.2.1.

I got nothing on my M2 Ultra. Turned off my USB audio device, switched to internal sound/speakers @ 44.1K and still nothing. Laptop yes, Mac Studio, no.

On my Macbook I just have some of the standard base level instruments. On my Mac Studio I have a handful of different vendors, could that perhaps be causing the issue? I thought for sure it would be a samplerate issue, but I tried 96, 48 and 44.1, rebooted... still no dice.

Have you got the previews library installed?

@mertos @reffahcs Thanks for your feedback. To be clear, previews do not work with any instrument/library or some are working? Some libraries don't have previews, can you give some examples of libraries where the previews don't work. As @Kymeia suggested, is the preview library installed on these M2/M3 Macs?

Good point about the previews. I thought that was going to be the fix when I saw them installed in /Users/Shared/NBPL as I had moved all of my NI content to an external drive. But after I uninstalled and installed Previews again through NA, there's still no previews in Kontakt. Previews in KK work fine though.

I tested 3 on my laptop, Hybrid Keys, Irish Harp and Utopia. All 3 played previews fine on my Macbook. And all 3 did not play any previews on my Mac Studio.

I also have installed all previews - I have the same instruments tested on my MacBook Pro M1 (preview works fine) and the new MacBook Pro M3 (no previews).

Just curious, on your M3, is your NI content installed locally or on an external drive?

Little update. We could not reproduce the issue with a M1 and a standard M2 on Sonoma. We don't have a M2 Ultra to test at the moment and trying to get our hands on a M3.

    every content is installed locally

don‘t know if this might help: I think I remember (but maybe I might mix it up already…) when I transfered my content to the m3max macbook, that it worked for a while. after updating sonoma and the kontakt7, it stopped playing previews. maybe it can be a combination of the new sonoma update and the m3 then - cause at the m1 macbook the latest version of kt7 is playing previews still.

@mertos Thanks! That could be some valuable info. When you say "transfered" what do you mean exactly? Do you mean you transferred the libraries/content or you transferred the applications using a migration assistant? DId you install Kontakt on this M3 Mac with Native Access?

no, meant the transfer of files of my hds from the macpro.

Kontakt and some more other NI apps were installed with NI access (several times already now…)

libaries/content of the instruments were transfered from the external ssd to the local ssd of the m3macbook
