If anyone converted the SINE Player versions of OT's Metropolis Ark series back into NKS, that would be fantastic (or anything else by Orchestral Tools). The NKS browser is just superior to look for sounds than Sine.

I think we should reopen the old thread and repurpose it as a general discussion thread going forward. Feel like we're missing that now

I agree and did suggest this myself a while back

    @chpiatt @Kymeia
But… we have a new place for general discussion!
Fresh, and without the 1900+ old comments (which most of them are "thanks", "ok", "good to know" etc. etc or leftovers from things that are already reposted in the new categories)

    This one:

At least 99% of all the valuable info has been separated and rebuild to 122 new discussions,
guides and manuals, resources, repositories etc. have their own discussion like everything else…

The only thing that it might be missing is, perhaps, a tech discussion, with all our findings, codes, tricks, scripts, but this is easy to be made…

Besides that, the whole idea, started because the old thread has become huge and unpractical… many comments, links and info where practically lost because they had no titles, no tags, nothing, just a link, so they didn't even appear on search.

Don't you think that is frustrating to have to navigate in 130 pages to find something?

It was part of the original plan that the old thread should be closed after our work was complete, thus it is closed since the work is done (maybe there are few remaining relics but they will be found eventually…)

So, I really see absolutely no point to re-open it and this was the will of the forum admins too, since the beginning. But hey, lets discuss it. It is not something that can't be undone! :-)

But, in this case (if we decide to re-open it and admins agree) i will heavily insist that not post any link there. Each plugin/developer has to be in its own page! Easy to be found, practical and meaningful. With order, harmony and grace. Even if there is no thread available, eh, make one. And even better, make it nice, both aesthetic and practical. Put some photo, some link to the product, even some info. I really, really dislike plain links…

So… lets talk (with serious arguments, not nostalgia) why exactly do you want the old thread re-open? 🙂

Thanks for your point of view. A few thoughts:
    1) No actual discussion is happening anymore. It is now pretty much entirely link posting. Feels like the 'community' part is missing
    2) I think if we changed the name of the 'Welcome to the Official…' thread to something like 'General discussion' it may improve the discovery aspect of 'oh, this is where I go to discuss NKS stuff generally' but…
    3) I think there is value in keeping the old thread and just building on top of that for this 'General discussion' thread instead, because that's effectively what it was (just mixed up with links, etc. as well). I'm constantly referencing that old thread still.
    4) I completely agree that links should be posted in separate threads now. I wish you could sort the threads alphabetically, though, because it's still hard to figure out if a particular developer or plugin is covered already without having to do some digging. Not sure how best to solve that problem absent getting NI to add alphabetical sorting though.

I never saw my ‘Welcome to…’ post as the start of a discussion thread. What I did suggest was just changing the old ‘NKS User Library’ thread to ‘NKS User Library - discussion’ that way we keep the old thread with all its history alive while retaining the advantage of seperate content threads for improved search ability

And yeah it should be possible to sort them better, maybe we need an index sticky?

Fine with a no content links in the discussion thread rule

I was hoping that I would get emails of anything new posted, that was essentially how I kept interacting with community. However, I am not getting the notification. Probably because although I did what was explained to get them, I must have some additional settings or filters in community.ni or my own email that prevents getting notified via email. I wish that there was a single thread that showed new posts that took you to the manufacturer page, but it seems like you have to go through the several pages and click on the links to see what is going on. That is what is making it difficult for me to participate.

    Fairly good points, i agree!
Though that the "entirely link posting" is done now, so we can start talk again, as a community.
I really like your alphabetical idea too but i am not sure if Vanilla forums have such option (it is not up to NI). We can ask @Kaiwan_NI though, if this is something that can be done.

Right now, there are 5 different types of showing the threads:

However, there is no digging! Just use Search. Because now every thread has a title and tags, if you write "GForce NKS" or "U-he NKS" or "Roland NKS" etc. then, the very first link that appears is the one you want. A lot much faster than searching 124 threads in 7 pages. ;-)

    ***********************************************************************************************************************

    I also agree. So:

1- We could close the 'Welcome to the Official…" thread, since it is just that, a Welcome announcement, so no further comments can be post there.

2- Then, we can re-open the old discussion and rename it to "NKS Generic Discussion" or something similar (i think is best to avoid "user library" again, as the title already exists now, but mostly because we always had a much wider spectrum of conversation) and we continue as before, just posting the final links in their appropriate pages.

I am fine with that and with all your suggestions, i'd like however to read some more opinions by other members too and if the admins agree as well, we can do it instantly!

    It is really easy!

Just go in the main category and click "Follow",

then go to your Profile —> Edit Profile —> Notifications preferences

and make sure that both these options are checked:

I already had those options. I don't think I made any changes, followed the group months ago, but only started getting emails about three weeks ago. Still, I would have to wade through emails. It was much harder to find stuff with search than it is now, but easier just to go to the chat and see what was new since you last visited.

    Update:

Since no one else responded so far (admin or member), I will follow the steps we discussed above; re-open the old NKS archive and transform it to a general discussion thread (no links there please)! :-)

Hello. I was under the impression that iZotope Iris 2 and BreakTweaker didn't have VST3 support, but there are plugins in the relevant folder on Mac.

My thinking is that they don't work on Apple Silicon, in which case I'll just uninstall them, but were there ever VST3-specific NKS updates for these products? Thanks for any thoughts.

I didn't see an iZotope-specific forum here, so that's why I'm asking in this one instead. Apologies if I broke the rules in this instance.

They are VST2 only. Iris VST3 is unstable in KK, and Breaktweaker doesn't have VST3 as far as I'm aware. The NKS created will work for VST2 though.
