Follow up posts to things they just posted, which I also see as a trend to reach certain statuses.

Some people are just in it for the likes and subscribes....

But then it is harder to get lots of upvotes AND posts, especially to have the least amount of downvotes possible.

@PoorFellow, don't get upset :-) Those up-votes was part of the Traktor "Ideas" section, where people upvoting ideas for the next versions, that's why you see that big rise. Unfortunately, the ideas upvoting can not be separated from the general upvoting. It looks like a big injustice but it will be fixed.

Admins have been notified and are aware of this. Give them some time.

The idea i proposed was to bring back the likes (which will give the user a point, as before), while on the same time, keep the vote-ups/downs as well, but without points.

Thank you for being so kind as to take your time to explain this to me.

I still will keep having the same attitude towards the whole thing as I did originally where I wrote that the up-voting and down-voting is always abused. I just received a 'down-vote' for a more than six months old post where I think that it is obvious that that it's used more as a tool show that 'voter' is dis-pleased with opinions expressed than anything else. I know that the person that started this whole discussion in this thread meant well but as far as I am concerned then the attempting to fix something that inherently can not be fixed is not going to improve things only worsen it.

Do not worry about this one too.

Old posts does not mean dead posts... they always come back at some point. I also noticed few down-votes on older comments, in fact one of them was completely illogical, since i was just explain the differences between VST3 and VST2.

I discussed it with the mods and they also found it weird... The only reason we found is that there are still users that have the idiotic belief that there is some kind of "Steinberg conspiracy" to force VST3 on us! Even if VST3 is by far superior, even if it is more than 10 years old already. Total ignorance, but what you can do? It seems that we do have "flat earthers" in the music things too...

So, bottom line is that vote-downs are harmless. In worst case, after 10 down-votes, you comment becomes hidden and the user has to click on it to read it. As we do with the ignored users. However, if you notice unusual amounts of down votes, and you suspect that has been used for unethical reasons, or constantly by a specific user, please contact directly with the mods and admins and they will deal with it. They can see that person. ;-)

Feels like the points system doesn't work for everyone.

-more work wor admin/mod team - answering redurant questions.

-not fair for the people posting in a smaller forums.

-not fair to people who answer more difficult questions.

-turns a forum into a kindergarden.

I guess these forums and the comments are having a 'hit or miss' syndrome.

The point system right now has no impact on anything since we disabled the reward/leaderboard system. It just helps you go to the next rank while we rethink the incentives.

Currently but for a reason people are starting to notice now. Just remove it please it was not a good idea. Old forum system was the best.

I agree with 90% of the comment, except with the part of not expecting something back.

Have you ever heard of 'giving freely without expecting someone to give it to you back is the true meaning of kindness'?

So what I read is "I post because I get a reward". Like a dog does tricks because he gets a treat. Gotcha. This is why you were never on the old forums I guess. Prob just a coincidence but the old forum had no ranking system for users, and it seemed to be a pretty chill place compared to this new forum.

You also do realise that points are given in all competitive sports as a way to tally competition and offers a divide between both players and fans right? This is a forum, not a sports field.

The leaderboard gamifies engagement and even you yourself have admitted you "play the game for the prize" (rather obvious) and I just personally find that annoying because I am here not just to offer answers but to also hang out and discuss and learn with other intelligent people, but when you have the overwhelming number of answers and input provided by the same few users because they are battling it out for the top spot, it gets pretty annoying to be bothered to read through. Sometimes a new perspective is better than a stale opinion. I'm even annoying myself here because I only post about the same few grievances I have as to why I don't bother here anymore. This is one of the reasons!

You confuse "Points" with "Statistics" and no one is saying to get rid of the statistics or the rewards, just the leaderboard ranking system is what I take issue with (likely others too). It is STATISTICS that have always been there, it has just been gamified to give users a false sense of importance. The reward system would be so much better if people were not able to actually see their position and instead the mods could choose based on if they know a user actually wants a voucher, if the user has been respectful, if they have been maybe showing improved engagement. Shouldn't always just be the user who spams their way to the top every time, sometimes I would say people who just joined the forum have a more intelligent input into conversations sometimes and I would like to see that recognised more TBH. I am all for fair game, not competition, there is enough of that in the world!

I am sure if I ramped up my engagement here again I could top the board too, all I need to do is post in every thread and cry out if people down vote me. I personally respect the others on the forum tho that don't want to see my voice/opinion in every thread tho because I know others likely have more interesting input than I do.

I am free to post whatever I like here within the guidelines. You can say:

"So, there is no question about it. Finally, this eternal debate about the obvious has to stop at some point."

    Why, because you say so?

You are NOT a moderator, your position on the leaderboard does NOT mean your opinion is any more applicable than mine. This thread is about what we as USERS feel we see as things that need changing, this is one of those things that I feel as a long time user on the old forum and this one that is killing the once good vibe this place use to have. This forum is currently a shell of what it was, fact we have a heated debate thread on this exact subject is the more obvious proof of that. I like to engage with people that aren't focused on their points/likes/shares...

So. What we might can talk is the usefulness of a reward system. But i can tell you with almost full certainty that if we make a Poll right now, 90% of the members will vote "Yes".

If you want a poll, I will let upvotes speak. If you get 9 to my 1 then I will let you have that. I have a feeling tho that would be doubtful.

Nope! you either got it wrong, or you just don't want to understand.

What i have done on this comment, is simply to explain how things are. And this is only because i dislike ignorance, so i wrote some very common things that people might not know (or might conveniently "forget"). It is not antagonism and it has nothing to do with points etc. It is the right thing to do, to defend the truth. It is never about the points, but about the excitement, a thing that i stated clearly, perhaps with wrong metaphors.

I will continue to do what i do, with or without points and rewards. I only said that with rewards is a bit more fun! So, stop insulting me or twisting the "spirit" of what i wrote every time i write things that you don't agree. You want things to be as in the past. I want things to be different, new, fresh! And after some time, different again. It's called evolution. When things are always the same for me it's boring. This is who i am and there is nothing to be shame of, neither i have to explain my self to anyone. I accept you for what you are, i never tried to change you or undermine so and i expect exactly the same.

Be sure, that if you and few others didn't bring this matter on and on and on, all the time, every few posts, i most possibly wouldn't write nothing at all. But any action bring reaction and balance has to be preserved... when there is too much "black" i stand for the white side and when there is too much "white" i stand for the black side (metaphorically speaking). Equality demands that someone must speak for the "other side" too, and if no one does, then i take that role.

Unless, if you think that only your opinion has to be heard and the rest of us should shut up and obey. Which of course it is not acceptable. I am just reacting on your (and few others) forced opinion (which i really got sick of reading it in at least 20-30 comments the last 2 months).

    Peace 🙏

PS: i stopped reading your comment after the "dog"... not because i got offended (in fact i only get offended by irony and injustice), i love animals much more than most humans but because i laughed my *ss down... however, a horse might fit better as i am a Sagittarius... you know, Centaur, half-horse and all this ;-)
