I’m really hopefull that this mergery process ends in near future and starts bringing fruitful and meaningful updates to the software. Anyway, it’s business, NI owners have to make money out it. They seemed to be lost for a few years now, but I still hope next 1-2 year may change things. Until that moment, as some already said, I’ll switch to a concervative mode to watch what happens.

iZotope, or probably more likely NI, please fix your login process! This is really absurd, having spent $200+ on a product and not even be able to install it because the product portal asks me to answer captchas over and over and over... and I click the audio captcha button to try that, and it instantly drops to "oops, you're just SOL for now, stop DDoS'ing us and you'll be good!"
Then I couldn't even get it to try again, so I had to start dropping to the terminal to kill off the product portal app that wasn't supposed to be running, each time... and flipping between various VPN countries to try to work around whatever IP block Google had on me in recaptcha. Finally I got to where I only had to answer about 3.5 pages' worth of images and it allowed me through. In an install app! What the heck?
Please fix this, take it up with Google if you have to... it's really an embarrassing look. Better yet, stop requiring a captcha on the login for a local desktop app. Better better yet, just open the login page in a browser where everything is already working instead of an internal Chrome or whatever that is.

That's a much different situation than renting a software license, though. If I stop paying for updates to the plugins that I own perpetual licenses for, then I can continue to work on my songs using those plugins. I am using numerous unsupported, discontinued, and outdated plugins on some of my older tracks, and I can still open and work on those tracks anytime I want.

anytime I want
For now maybe, but that's not necessarily going to last.

It's up to me if I update to some new hardware or OS or DAW that no longer supports my older software. It's not a matter of continuing financial investment for as long as I wish to be able to use it.
Might it break or become unusable after years and years? Sure... but by that point to have continued renting the same software I would have paid several times what it was worth, as long as I kept paying at all, and as long as the rental even includes old versions at all.
My subscription to AutoTune Unlimited holds my songs hostage that use those plugins. If I stop paying, then I no longer have a license, nor anything to show for having paid a huge amount of money over time. On the other hand, I own all of my Plugin Alliance licenses, so PA isn't holding my songs hostage, I could pay them nothing ever again and obsolescence is the only thing I need to be worried about, rather than both obsolescence AND never-ending financial obligation.

All software eventually faces obsolescence, but rented software faces both obsolescence and never-ending financial obligation.

Realistically, even if you buy software, it's temporary. At some point it will become unsupported, discontinued, outdated (so it will only run on old hardware) etc.
Not really. Yes, SW may not be supported by newer version of OS, but one may run OS needed in virtual maschine.... Not optimal, but current computers are way more powerful than older ones, so old SW will run OK, because it was designed for much weaker computers....
And on Win even OS version mostly is not problem. One may often run even several decades old programs....
So, yes it is temporary in some way, but temporary means 30-40 years. Maybe even more.

I could see benefit in renting extremely expensive single plugin that I might use ocasionaly. Or very specialized expensive Kontakt Library, that I need just for single track....
But for huge bundles that I use massively for long time? It is way more cost effective to buy it to rent it. One does not have to update every time new version comes...

How much does he charge?

Keep an eye on details of his fee line!

Yes, this is a true statement, but it needs context
Some 300+ years ago, a person by the name of Antonio Stradivari was making violins. They are still in use today. In 300+ years from now, I don't have a clue what computers will be like, but I'm pretty sure they won't be running Win10 or MacOS13, if you get my drift

Oh, that's just purrrfect

Why you ever wanna think about more than 5-10 years? Even, 2-3 is a maximum in a software world. Anything over that should not be kept as a project file with VSTs because of many dependencies. Export WAVs and you can keep them for decades if needed…

Because something like Absynthe is unique, and is no more

It's true that at some point you'll no longer be able to make new music with old software, and that you should create static versions of tracks in older projects to avoid losing your work in the long-term. But that's an entirely different concern from the one of losing access to rented software.
A good subscription platform is one that rewards continued customers with perpetual licenses, store credit, or some other form of being able to use some of that money spent even if they someday decide they've paid enough. Kilohearts gives you $100 in store credit every year. PA's Ultimate subscription lets you pick 10 plugins to keep every year, or their Forever 29 subscription (offered sometimes) lets you pick a new plugin to own every month for $30/month. LennarDigital lets you pay for Sylenth1 over time, and Splice lets you pay for a lot of plugins and DAWs over time.
iZotope does not seem to offer anything like that. As long as you want to use the software, you have to keep paying for the subscription. If you ever want to actually own a perpetual license so that you can stop paying for it someday, the hundreds or thousands you've paid into the subscription means nothing.
