As a fellow owner of K14 CE - why ultimate or CE got lumped with Ozone standard and not advanced confuses me. In addition - anyone who buys or upgrades to K14 ultimate or CE today still gets GR6 and Ozone 10. Crazy.

Guess what… K15 is around the corner within just one year after 14 (just like ozone) 😂

Having tested Ozone 11 and Nectar 4 today both seem like clear improvements. Tested the AI assistant on O11 and O10 on the same track and 011 gave better results. The clarity slider seems handy as well. Didn't really drive much deeper into it yet. It's nice to have the quick workflow view in Nectar as well, even if I was originally sceptical about it when it was induced in Ozone and Nectar. Didn't really deep dive into it yet, but overall seems great. I wasn't too impressed by the new backing feature. Sounded much better in the YouTube video than anything I was able to get out of it. With the silly NI style graphics of the modules interface as well, I was getting a bit of a marketing gimmick vibe for module that doesn't do much more than AlterBoy was doing years ago. Just a first impression though.

GR7 I haven't tested out, since it's not a part of the iZotope subscription, but I'm a bit surprised to read several people criticising it for being nothing more than a few extra amps. There seems to be relatively clear additions to the technology it's built on with impulse response based cabinets and machine learning based circuit modelling, and the signal flow view seems like genuine improvement to the user interface. I do wonder though if it would have been better take a bit more time with the product and add an iZotope style AI assistant with Audiolens compatibility.

For a subscription model user it’s a clear qin of course. Angry users are the ones who bought O10 a year ago for more than the price of subscription, so to own it for 2-3 years before another update… if it’s updated every year, makes no sense for a buy-to-own model considering the price difference…

Oh GR6… most of the things you mention were promised to be delivered earlier and free for existing owners as people believed. GR6 to GR5 was a total change (visually). But, 7… strange. People were promised it earlier, but it landed only now, and as a new version…

    Loyalty sucks to be honest…

The purchase model and subscription model aren't really compatible like that. I agree that IF you are going to upgrade every time, it doesn't make sense to purchase cost wise. This is a bit of a no brainer though considering that the full purchase price of the music production suite is nearly 3 years of subscription, and that during that time Ozone, RX, Neutron and Nectar are all going to have at least 1 or 2 upgrades each. The purchase model though means that you can keep using the product you bought as long as you want, so as long as you are happy skipping a few upgrades you'll save money in the long run. No reason you couldn't use Ozone 10 for 2 to 3 years until you upgrade to whatever version will be the current one then.

I can imagine NI moving to annual versions of Komplete.

October 2023 K15 “what’s new for me”: Stutter edit 2, Breaktweaker, a load of Brainworx stuff that’s free anyway (and Fables if it’s CE).

These suites, bundles and collections are becoming kinda hard to justify. For all the shiny new (and not so shiny new) stuff, there’s always a bunch of stuff I already own from one of the other companies.

If there was some fairer upgrade price based on each individual product I already own from NI, PB, and Izotope, rather than the upgrades that are offered, it might be easier to pull the trigger. But I imagine that would be rather complex to implement.

Also, yeah, GR7 should’ve been an update for GR6. The new features are what most of us were expecting from six when they promised us new ICM amps added over time and then barely delivered.

I wouldn't mind paying $49, but as I bought this only five months ago, I don't qualify for that one. Has to be bought in August.

Super frustrating to be asked for another $200, and after five months, it is, as we English say, a piss take.

"So I think I’ll pass on the $229 “loyalty offer”."

Saw this in my iZotope acct as well - not even close to being worth it.

Given what I can see so far - this is REALLY stretching the value boundary of what I see is really worth about a $69.00 upgrade from MPS 5.2 (Which I purchased in March 2023).

Will be staying far away from any of this stuff.
