I just sold my Traktor S2 and I am trying to transfer the Traktor Kontrol license. In my version of Native Access, I have Traktor Pro 2 and Traktor Pro 3. When I went to transfer the license. Only Traktor Pro 2 showed up as an option.

  • Question 1 - why can't I transfer the license for Traktor Pro 3?

I went through the license transfer process for Traktor Pro 2 with the buyer. She was able to complete it such that it appears in her account on the web. However, it does not appear in Native Access. We added the serial number and it still does not appear the in the Native Access Library. She is on MacOS 15.1.

How do I get her a download of Traktor Pro?

thanks

When you transfer hardware the licence for the software that originally came with it should be available in the new account. If you have TP3 you should be able to create a transfer ID for that separately. DO you get any error message when you try to create the TIF or is it just not available. The best idea in situations regarding licences is to contact support which you can do from this page - https://bit.ly/NI_Support_All

The problem the buyer is having with TP2 not showing in NA is most likely the OS2 version. TP2 isn't compatible with Sonoma so it's not offered as an option on a Mac running 15.x. TP3 is available, so if you can do a transfer she'll be able to use that.

    You know that support article:

About buying and selling NI hardware second hand

Usually you only need to transfer your hardware, the buyer gets own licenses this way (and you even keep yours too). But the buyer gets only the original software this way. As example: You got your controller with Traktor Pro 2 and later updated to Traktor Pro 3 the buyer gets only Traktor Pro 2. But you should be able to transfer the update license in this case.

If you cannot transfer a license it has most likely one of these reasons:

    • You registered your product less than 60 days ago to your account.
    • It is a Not for resale (NFR) or educational (EDU) product.
    • It is a license bound to the hardware it came with. Transfer the hardware in that case.

If you have still issues you need to contact NI support to sort it out.

Traktor Pro 2 seems to be transferred correctly but isn‘t offered in Native Access as it isn‘t compatible with macOS 15. Last supported macOS was 10.13 (or even older). With Sequoia usually Traktor Pro 4 is needed. In most cases Traktor Pro 3 still works with Sequoia but isn‘t supported officially.

thank you so much for the quick answer. Does that mean she is essentially forced to upgrade to Traktor Pro 4? (assuming Pro 3 won't work?)

At least on my Macs Traktor Pro 3 is still working on macOS 15. Therefore: If you can transfer the TP3 license it is worth a try. If this doesn‘t work it is still possible to buy a TP4 upgrade (and it is cheaper with a TP3 license than with TP2)
