SUSTAIN Pedal not working in Kontrol S 49 MK3

Hi there,

just when I bought the Komplete Kontrol S49 MK3, I could make my M-Audio Expression pedal to work. I remember that I had to change something to make it run - it didn't work as it says "works by default". Nevertheless, it worked but having not used it for a longer time and after a few updates, I can't get it running anymore! I loaded the Midi Default Mode and tried to set it up and calibrate it in the Midi/ Pedal Settings - without success. Anyone knows something that could solve my problem???

Thanks

Michael

You say in the title the SUSTAIN pedal is not working but you state you have an M-Audio Expression pedal? This is a little confusing since unsure if you have the M-Audio expression pedal or sustain pedal, they are very different things and configured differently. A sustain pedal will usually "work by default" because it is just a 2 wire switch however an expression pedal will usually need some configuration since it is a 3 wire variable potentiometer and the wiring configuration and pot value differ between pedals so not all will work.

An expression pedal will also control the expression (volume) of your instrument but will not act as a sustain pedal while the sustain pedal by default will act as a note sustain but of course cannot vary volume so itself cannot act as an expression.

Need clarification and also, would help to post a screenshot of the pedal configuration in the KK software and be testing this initially using the standalone software, not as a plugin within a DAW.

@Bob Flaps Yes, exact model would help here. Please check these articles:

How to Configure Sustain / Expression Pedals on Kontrol Keyboards

Please note that since a few updates, the MIDI assignment for the pedals is made per template: How to use MIDI Templates with the Kontrol S-Series MK3
