Also this purely quantitative approach to prioritisation fails to take account of actual usability - adding the ability to keep the browser open on the keyboard screen would be a significant usability feature. It really is irrelevant how many people have asked for it, maybe most people don't realise how useful it could be apart from those of us who did use it in the past? But that doesn't mean they would not find it useful if it was available. NI need to stop using this reductionist bean counter approach to deciding on priorities for musicians, the 'logic' behind it is completely flawed.

Fair enough Jeremy, thanks for the honest reply. It feels odd that NI doesn't see this as a feature that they would want to maintain from KK MK2 hardware, that's what made the experience what it was. It seems strange that no one from NI didn't bring that up in their design conversations for the MK3 hardware. Is it that the newer customers just aren't aware of it ? Is NI catering only to newer customers now?

At this point we're at the mercy of whenever NI decides to add this request.Seems strange that a large company like Native Instruments doesn't seem to have the manpower to code such a simple request when it already works in the desktop software/plugin.

The Komplete Kontrol /Maschine team have a lot of other priorities at the moment so they will prioritize the issues that are beneficial to the many. We do understand that you are power users and we would also like you to be happy. As said it's still in the backlog, we don't forget about it.

Follow Up Question : So does this mean Native Instruments does not have a full time developer working on Komplete Kontrol ? Are the developers stretched so thin that NI is sharing development in a sequential manner, eg: 2025 quarter 1-4 they can work on xproduct, then development must stop, because another product needs maintenance etc. ?

This is what it sounds like, in the meantime, the customers are being led to believe NI is the same company that was developer strong. It sounds like to me,Native Instruments is in dire need for more developers who can dedicate actual time to these products we're all buying and supporting.

    Please clarify

have you considered that a lot of users have partially or fully given up on your KK hardware/software integration out of frustration, given up on responding on the forums given the lack of responses, the ignoring of bringing back parity to v2, the splitting of dev team between Maschine /KK due to serious understaffing/underressourcing?

I used to check forums regularly and participate. Now I rarely venture here as it’s depressing and frustrating.
last time I used KK was over 6 months ago, as I’m only seldom using the mk3 and only as standalone for the reasons pointed above.
so your stats and interpretation of user data or what matters to whom is flawed at best.

it’s the same team that deals with Maschine and Komplete Kontrol development indeed, so when one is being worked on, the other lies fallow…

Utterly ridiculous that NI can’t allocate another few hundred grand or even a million to have dedicated all year round dev teams for these 2 important product lines. It would literally pay for itself…

    Corporate greee exemplified

Native Instruments’ upper management has become the root of the company’s decline. The lack of accountability, transparency, and direction is glaring. Product decisions feel disconnected from users, and that’s no surprise—NI leadership avoids the forums entirely, as if they don’t want to face the people who actually use their products.

At one point, NI set the standard for innovation in music tech. Now they can’t even implement features in hardware that already work in software. That’s not a technical issue—that’s a leadership failure. It shows the talent that once made this company great has either left or been ignored.

It’s honestly sad to watch. What was once a flagship company in the music production world has become a shadow of itself. Native Instruments has fallen off—and it’s time their management is held accountable.

    But this can be fixed.

    Native Instruments needs to:

    • Re-engage with its user base directly—especially in forums and public feedback channels.
    • Establish a roadmap with transparency around development priorities.
    • Invest in the talent needed to bring hardware and software into parity.

Users want to believe in NI again—but trust has to be rebuilt through action, not silence

I have bowed out now for the 15 years of owning NI products, and will not purchase another hardware product from NI as they simply don’t want my business. They can’t keep their word, and have become super sketchy and unreliable.
Today I sold off the Kontrol S88 MK3 , Maschine MK3 and Maschine Studio.I will use my Akai MPC hardware here on out and Yamaha Montage M. It’s unfortunate what NI has become. Good luck to everyone waiting on a simple feature request that should have been implemented from day one.
