Hi,

I just picked up a s88 mk3 , and so much has changed since my KK MK2.Anyways, I'm just trying to figure out the most basic option on how to browse sounds and audition sounds, so I can start creating my favorites..I'm using Komplete Kontrol 3.3 latest version

How do we pin the browser on the MK3 Hardware, in order to keep the browser open, while auditioning sounds ?

Nope, it's terrible and you can bet we have begged for the old format of browser back but somehow, some of those involved in the development feel it is improved somehow, go figure.

Honestly, the software is the single reason I will not touch the MK3, it is sadly the most important piece of the puzzle and the most terrible to use compared to V2

Yes, unfortunately this is not possible at the moment. Forwarding this as a feature request.

I was hoping to hear better news ,as I recently upgraded to Komplete 15 Ultimate CE and I bought the S88 MK3 not knowing all this happened. Such a simple feature to implement, and really useful for browsing the 100k sounds ;(

    Thanks for the reply

The more I use the MK3 the more frustrated I’m becoming with this feature that was robbed from the workflow. How exactly does NI intend for us to want to spend any amount of time auditioning sounds, when we can’t browse sounds productively?
For a company who has all but abandoned their software instruments ( vsts ) and basically now rely on sample libraries, this has got to be the most irritating part of Komplete Kontrol 3 and the MK3.
Why on earth is there not an immediate HOTFIX implemented in the kk v3 Code by now ?

For clarity, the browser can be pinned in Komplete Kontrol software, if this is useful to you? There is a pin icon towards the top right above the preset list.

    Hi Matthew Ni ,

With all due respect, the whole point of Komplete Kontrol is to use it with the hardware. I bought the kontrol s88 mk3, to be able to browse through the sounds on the hardware itself, if proper browsing which was already implemented on the mk2 wasn’t working correctly on the mk3 it should be mentioned in ALL of the Videos, and or websites pushing the product.
I don’t want to look at a cpu screen for browsing sounds, or I would just use the software, and not have spent the money on the hardware.

This isn’t implemented correctly or as it was on the mk2. I was an owner of the mk2, I upgraded. I should NOT LOSE FUNCTIONALITY for upgrading. The fact NI management has allowed this to continue for over a year now is disappointing.

All potential customers should at least be aware of this, as it’s being pushed on us that it’s not been changed.
Furthermore A HOTFIX should be implemented immediately in a firmware update to get this working as the mk2 works as this goes against everything that made the MK2 workflow browsing successful.

With all due respect, the "pinning" of the browser to force it to stay open is not what any of us want…. it then hides completely the plugin window and forces you to click to close, again requiring use of the mouse to switch back and forth and ignoring the way people have been happy using it for a decade. The second level of this issue which was again, not considered is the fact you cannot control the browser on-screen from the keyboard, instead it is independant so for those of us who may like to quickly switch and scroll by simple feel of controls without looking at the keyboard, again like we have been doing since day 1, this too is not possible anymore. As has been pointed out, it has actually crippled and removed functionality without offering any real improvements.

It would be the same as forcing someone to pull up their file browser full screen on their computer every time they want to open a file or load something obscuring things they are working on.

This is something of a complaint with many users, it should be recognised.

Can only recommend to keep pointing this out because it does seem to fall on deaf ears as being an issue. There are several different ways people became use to browsing and this isn't simply a slight change in how we should use it, it's a complete redesign and not exactly for the better (IMO).

I hold out little hope tho, the plan is ultimately to just wait out all us old users and pull in new users that don't have pre-conceptions

@ anyone from NI, so 3 months later, does NI have any updates to this issue ? The option to pin the browser in the plugin already has the code working correctly. Can we get an idea on when this is going to be implemented in the hardware ?
Why is this feature such a hard concept to grasp ? It worked in v2 , and for good reasons. Whoever made the decision to remove it in v3 should not have any further involvement or input in anything else in v3.
So can we get an answer when it’s going to finally make it in v3 ?

Yeah this is really needed, especially now the Komplete Kontrol browser and keyboard browser are decoupled

All we can do is keep harping on these things in the hope at least other users will take note. That is why my only input here is basically to regurgitate the same points over and over.

I am about to put together a video that showcases the major functional defects between V2 and V3 so new users are aware of what they could have and how much nicer browsing use to be. It's going to be a side by side usability test if I can get both to work because it's only when you see them both work side by side you realise how much we are now missing.

Even the ability to use the keyboard browse controls (when sitting back from the screen) to control the OSD browser is now gone. It was always just so convenient when tracking and doing things on-screen to remain on-screen instead of having to fumble at the keyboard. Keyboard is great when you are just at the keyboard but I loved using the scroll wheel and buttons via touch to switch presets while watching the plugin on-screen.

Alas, my guess is it is all just a pipe dream.
