"Build Your Own Bundle" option

As we all know, NI loves to toss out bundles willy-nilly at lower prices than their combined parts. The biggest sticking point I have with a lot of the bundles, Komplete Std/Ult/Col included, is that 99% of the time the bundles will have a fantastic selection of products but won't include the product(s) I'm interested in, or they'll have what I'm interested in alongside a ton of other stuff I'd never use and aren't worth the cost.

Case in point: I'm working on heavy prog metal more lately and would love to get Session Guitarist - Electric Storm Deluxe, one or two of the Session Bass instruments, and maybe even something like Schema: Dark. Sure, I could upgrade my K12 Std to K15 Ult and get multiple Session Bass instruments and Schema: Dark, but that leaves me without Electric Storm. I could individually purchase Electric Storm, but that's the same price as upgrading to K15 Std and is only a single instrument.

My idea/suggestion: a "Build Your Own Bundle" option. NI could offer a few different "tiers" of the bundle product, for example:

  • 2 products ⇐ $149/each for $249
  • 3 products ⇐ $149/each for $369
  • etc.

I really feel something like that would go over really well with both people already in the NI ecosystem as well as people considering their first NI product(s).

Yep, that's pretty much Universal Audio's marketing model, seems to do well for them. Might be a good idea for NI

Problem with this scenario is that ALL instruments released AFTER the most recent Komplete drop (in this case Sept 23, 2024) are usually subject to a "full price" model - where NI attempts to maximize sales on these - regardless of whatever else is going on.

And as we all know - none of this "new" stuff ever appears in Komplete until the "next" round.

Another thing to be aware of is third party agreements. Electric Storm for example - is not a native NI instrument - it is designed and coded by Drumasonic and marketed exclusively via NI.

Almost a guarantee that there is a payment structure, sales structure, discount structure and a number of other reasons why instruments like this - are not subject to bundle sales or other offers until a specific timespan has been reached.

If NI threw everything that's brand new into some bargain basement bundle - we - of course - would love it. But this would most likely rile up those third parties who count on specific cashflow for specific periods.

It has been this way for at least a decade or more - can't see it suddenly changing.
