Kontrol s8 with rane 12 mk2
Looking to get a Rane 12 mk2 to add to my s8.
will this setup work? There’s no usb in on the s8. Would I connect the Rane to my laptop via usb and then the rane to my s8 via rca? I’d like to have all the button features work in Traktor along with the platter to scratch.

Hello,
as far as I can see on the website the rane can do both. It can be a midi controller via usb to your PC or you can use it as dvs controller via RCA out, from the rane, to RCA in on the s8.

Hey there, I am also thinking of getting a pair also. As far as my research goes, with RCA and with USB you will get full control of Rane Twelves MK2’s. They look so cool.

As far as I can see on the website you can do USB or time code dvs - or hybrid, so you don't need necessary line inputs, but i don't know if dvs control is more precise than via midi only. And his S8 has 2 stereo line ins so he will be fine anyway.

How does the ranes interact with the s8. I presume you can have ranes on all channels if needed but mainly a and b with c and d used for Remix decks etc?

yes rane on all decks, can switch between what deck to control with a push of a button. I typically scratch with my left hand and cross fade with my right so I’ll probably keep it on deck c. I’ll post a photo or video when I get a chance. You’ll be very happy if you decide to get the Rane.

Nice one. Do the hot cues and touch strip respond well?

yes they both work great. Touch strip is very responsive, the hot cues work but they’re not button pads like on the s8, and I prefer the button style so I’ll use the Ranes touch strip and keep cues on the s8.

Could the rane twelve be connected to the traktor s3?

S3 has one line in so it should work exactly how in the video.

I've recently bought 2 Rane Twelves and connected then to my Xone:4D. They work when setting them to Traktor mode. RCA for a line level DVS (plattern - scratch) sync and USB for all the buttons. The TSI file from NI works very good. The only downside in my opinion is that once in a while Traktor is showing a missing a ground wire. I'm not sure why. Anyway ... there is no ground wire to connect.. so ...
About accuracy: I'm not a beat juggler or scratching DJ so for me everything is like working ok except for the missing ground wire message. As I've read in NI and Rane forums: NI isn't responding to the issue and Rane blames NI for it.
I really hope Rane or NI can fix or assist with this issue.
