All instruments broken after Komplete Kontrol 3.4.0 update

Hey all,

I updated Komplete Kontrol to 3.4.0 this morning and since the update, it won't load any of my instruments, serving the "Plugin Not Found. Please open the standalone…." error message.

I have tried:

* Trashing the files in Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Komplete Kontrol and launching the standalone, followed by a full library and plugin rescan

* Re-installing a few of the instruments (I have over 150)

* Starting the mac

* Sending a support ticket

I have lost a day of work so far to this, and can't work again until I have a version of Komplete Kontrol working.

Any ideas (or a previous installer, anything higher than 3.3.2 which I already have) would be greatly appreciated! 💙

Olli

    Thanks again for all your help guys, I really appreciate it.

    After 9 hours of pretty much non-stop effort, I've managed to fix it! This was the process:

    * Remove Clean My Mac (using it's own uninstaller)
    * Uninstall Komplete Kontrol (manually following the instructions in Native Access)
    * Restart
    * Install backdated Komplete Kontrol (3.3.2)
    * Start standalone and allow plugin scan to finish
    * Allow library rebuild to complete

    Both the standalone and the plugin now work, so it must have either been:

    * Clean My Mac
    or * Komplete Kontrol 3.4.0

    I'm not willing to break it again by updating Komplete Kontrol to find out, but that's where I'm at :)

    Again, thank you both so much for the help! It's really nice to not be alone with this stuff.

    Be sure to use the latest version of Native Access for your OS

    Try this My Products Are Showing As DEMO in Native Access , especially '2. Your activation fails because of corrupted or missing activation tokens' and '3. You have corrupted XML files' (delete both NA XML and problem product XML) then restart computer .

    Then try the reset of the My Komplete Kontrol Browser is Empty or Incomplete

    Also general Mac user check list :

    ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access. : How to Enable Full Disk Access on mac OS and disks must be of correct format : Notes on Network Drives and Disk Formats

    Also then please check that iCloud Private Relay has been turned off : Native Access Error Message: "Download failed" (macOS)

    Also then do not use Clean My Mac.

    And quote Kymeia : if using Sequoia then N.I. apps must be added to the Local Network

    Any ideas (or a previous installer, anything higher than 3.3.2 which I already have) would be greatly appreciated!

    I would be happy to provide this download but I do not have. I have just made this comment to the N.I. C.P.O.'s February 2025 Update .

    If problem persists then please contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support or N.I. Komplete Kontrol Support

    Hi @PoorFellow,

    I've tried every single item you mention above, as well as backdating to 3.3.2 and I've still got the same issue.

    Interesting I did have that new update of Clean My Mac, but its been removed now, Komplete Kontrol re-installed and all the databases, preference files etc trashed and rebuilt and no joy.

    The instruments even show and load in Kontact 8, and show in the KK library, they just won't load, which means all my work projects won't open correctly.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks again,

    Olli

    Do the instruments work in the standalone apps of Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol ? Please notice that after changes then you have to run the apps as standalone first prior to using them in a DAW.

    If it works in standalone apps then maybe the DAW somehow needs to be reset or do a re-scan.

    Else also try the reinitialize the KONTAKT Database

    With respect to using the CleanMyMac then if it should somehow be related to that , not saying that it is or not simply saying , then one might need to reinstall any libraries that is affected (and maybe the apps also don't know)

    Else then I am sorry if none of already suggested above works the

    If the problem persists then please contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support .

    In case that you need guidance contacting support : Please read : how to get support !

    Hey @PoorFellow,

    Thanks again for this!

    * Can confirm that the instruments show and load in Kontact 8 both standalone and in DAW
    * They show in the KK library, but just won't load
    * Can confirm I have been running standalone's first after changes
    * Re-initialising the Kontact database sadly won't help as Kontact works correctly - the problem is only in KK

    I have set up a support ticket earlier today.

    As a last ditch attempt I am going to try un-installing and re-installing all NI stuff, which is 199 items :s

    Thanks again for all your help so far.

    I wonder if the Kontakt plugin is the problem, start by making sure you have that and are using the latest VST3 version. I don't see how installing all the libraries again would make any difference since they do show, if it says 'plugin not found' that points to the plugin of Kontakt as the source of the problem. It may be you have a version mismatch.

    Hi @Kymeia,

    Thanks, but Kontact is working fine. It is Komplete Kontrol that is the problem.

    *Both Kontact and KK show all my instruments in their respective browsers
    *They load and work in Kontact, but not in Komplete Kontrol

    This suggests to me that it's an issue with Komplete Kontrol, but I've re-installed it, backdated it, trashed all its files, rebuilt data bases and library a few times, nothing seems to make it able to load the instruments that it can see, and that work in Kontact.

    Sorry that none of the suggested worked. I still think though that you ought to select a kontakt library that is a small download and that you do not use much (in case of further mishaps) and then uninstall + remove any trace of library + reinstall via Nativa Access. That way we can be sure if or if not that has any bearing on komplete Kontrol or on Komplete Kontrol reset.

    I just made reference to this post by Sunborn today but as far as I know then Mac do not have a registry (I think that it uses Plists ?) so not sure that it has any relevance here , also not same issue but I mention it still because of it is another recent issue apparently caused by the K.K. update also : Quote Sunborn , 2025-02-22 (Missing instruments after update to Komplete Kontrol 3.4.0)

    I know the standalone is working but what version of the plugin do you have installed?
