With respect to backlash and products then actually my own thoughts since they wrote about the missing MK3 keyboard Maschine integration the very first time were a different one. I interpreted that as that since N.I: had experienced the huge backlash from MK1 keyboard users when EOL the MK1 keyboards combined with the MK2 keyboards users not having "Direct Connection" ability then N.I. might have found it prudent to avoid sharing any thoughts on any possible new future Maschine lineups. I myself think it highly likely that any new Maschine lineups in the future are going to make the same kind of break with present Maschine lineup abilities as did the MK3 keyboard with the MK2 keyboard technology. To me it stands to reason that users wanting all sorts of new stuff in equipment then at some point the old can not deliver anymore. So if there is going to be any MK3 keyboard ability to work with a future Maschine lineup then that might not be something that present Maschine lineup will support so then why waste time on that ? , present Maschine lineup might still have some future compatibility as have the MK2 keyboard. I am rather handicapped in this discussion by not having any Maschine and not understanding very much of it but I think that with MPE and Midi 2 being pushed in the industry then some really innovative new products would have to somehow break with present technology.

Of course then we could also just end up seeing a "maschine keyboard" as suggested by Aldread.

Kontakt 8’s direct connection is NI making steps in the right direction.
Let’s face it, Komplete Kontrol V3 has not been much of a success if people are still using Komplete Kontrol 2.9 and the older hardware. I was actually let down I couldn’t downgrade to 2.9 with my MK3 ! ( I’m using v3 now, but missing critical features like pinning the browser on the hardware and no ability to create banks ) v 2 supported this.

NI’s best move is direct connection for any NKS supported plugin moving forward. Personally I wouldn’t care to ever use a host like Komplete Kontrol if there was a NKS direct connection option.
This would make the newer MK3 hardware more attractive to customers.

There’s customers who admit they bought the newer MK3 hardware to then return it for the older MK2 versions. ( This is a clear sign that the software is not as good as the older versions). Or even those that own both, but refuse to use the new hardware, because the older versions work better with the older Software! I’d love it if NI went direct connection for everything NKS.

Actually no version of KK has supported users to create banks, that has been a very long standing FR. However there are other ways, but they work for V3 as well. What was removed from v2 was support for sub banks but that appears to be unintentional and sub banks are still there for some things (eg Reaktor) but not user created NKS, although it is taking a long time to get it fixed which is probably because NI are not keen for users to be able to create banks - same with Massive X (even though we still do and it is ridiculous that it was ever considered acceptable to block this).

Good - so that suggests this is a hardware function not directly based on the KK version

Should be added to the MKIII via a firmware update then

Right on the MK2 ! Not on the new MK3, so the argument can be made why even upgrade to the newer hardware if we lose features critical to our workflow and the newer software lacks the ability to do what older hardware/ software supported.
I’d be interested in a poll how many users that upgraded to the newer hardware MK3 keyboards and KK V3 software actually feel about it vs the older hardware and software.
my own experiences with the software have been much worse.
The hardwares better , but without the software working as it did before, just makes this all so frustrating. I hope NI stops making excuses and just fixes the issues.

Kymeia , you’re correct about banks I was using all vst2 versions and preset magician back then, so I got this confused. So yeah banks have never been supported in kk.
At the moment, unless your a Mac user it seems we have no way to create banks, ( 3rd party software) unless we’re using vst2 versions, and can use preset magician ( if the plugins supported) all of this is just a complete mess.
NI’s been relying heavily upon users, like yourself and Jester being at the forefront for many years for the actual support of 3rd party NKS, along with many other users now helping out too.

You can use Nimbank to do this on PC - it's just a longwinded way of doing something that should be simple.

I don't think NI care to run a poll if they did I will be the second to say it hardware is great it holds my keybaord on the corner side well. Software is frustrating it's like I'm running i386 computer with 16mb of ram slow and unusable in cubase
