MPC 3.0 How will NI respond?

that new Alicia electric keys is dope. It sounds like an electric piano but on my pc. 🤯

It’s really easy: If you like the MPC better, get the MPC. No need to get upset or enraged.

I don’t understand the touch screen cope for the life of me. Akai has its roots in sampler and keyboard workstations that have had integrated touch screens since the 2005 gen devices. Have you used and MPC or Force? There are several knob modes that quite frankly make the device nearly fail-proof and blow any non-touch screen device out of the water. An Ipad would never have this level of integration unless you mapped the controls one by one, which (ironically) was the entire purpose of the Kontrol series keyboards (and Maschine devices by extension) since their inception. NI now seems firmly committed to being king of sample packs and completely neglecting their hardware. It’s a terrible strategy. Most of us have more “sounds” than we could ever use and understand these preset packs can mostly all be accomplished with one decent synth and drum machine. NI has released 3 electric pianos this year….why? Does anyone really need another electric piano? At $149 no less? I got an entire System 1 for $199 used earlier this year. It’s just silly at this point. Upgrade the dang hardware NI.

The more I see about the MPC update the more I hate it. I wonder how much of the hype is just wanting new things to boast/complain about and then never using the actual device.

Maschine has great integration with the Native Instrument software instruments and effects.

Nah. You can't make a synth preset entirely from the Maschine hardware for any of their native VST (Without Komplete Kontrol) I will never understand how the company who invented a standard that was supposed to eliminate the tedium of midi mapping can't even integrate that standard into their own products consistently. It's kinda sad I gotta scroll through pages of "Undefined64" before arriving at some more poorly named synth parameters, that only sometimes correspond to the thing you're expecting.
Here come the discord DJ's, right on schedule. Why would you hate an update to a platform which makes it the perfect musician's sketchbook? They added a master tempo track and audio tracks…that's at least two things MPC3 is slated to do better than Maschine, not even counting all the updates the platform's continually received over the years. You ever try to use the audio module in Maschine? Imagine having to fiddle with that garbage while you're trying to record scratch vocals for your demo. Or trying to track guitar, or any long-form audio file that you'd want to edit in a linear fashion.

Again, please, everyone who thinks the MPCs are better, get one. They’re dead cheap and everything works exactly as expected!

Wow wow wow. Username checks out. You're an emotional chap aren't you? Who hurt you? A Discord DJ?
I feel like you're not really looking for an answer since you clearly respect other people's opinions and you're a very welcoming dude.
But I'm gonna entertain you. Well, as someone who owns multiple MPC's, new-gen included, I don't really care about your perfect musician's sketchbook. You care, so you do you. If that's what you like/need. Update yours, buy an MPC. Whatever floats your boat. I respect it. So there's no need to be a prick. I didn't buy an MPC to sport a knock off pseudo Ableton. Or a castrated version of an Akai Force. Which is what "MPC3" is. Something that existed for a long time, in it's own piece of hardware.
Which you probably could have bought instead of a Maschine. Or you didn't know what you were buying? That would have saved me that salty and heartwarming response. So, if I wanted to do all of what you said i'd use a… Computer. I'm sure that little smart brain of yours can tell that a Computer it's not an MPC. The idea is buying things you like and enjoy. And learn them. If, IF, by chance they don't totally answer to what you want you have 2 options. Either figure out a work around or get something else. That's why things like DAWs exist. Imagine if I came here started ranting about how the SP404 is not an MPC.
Not sure what a Discord DJ is but I'm guessing you assumed I came here to bash Akai and defend NI's honor.
I don't fanboy over brands. I don't have a stake in NI nor in InMusic. Maschine has it's strengths. So does the MPC platform. If anything I have spend enough in MPC's to be naturally biased. From a neutral POV of someone who owns both, I think the MPC is the superior product. Price and features wise. They had a lot of updates in comparison? True. Did they have a long history of awful bugs, some of which still aren't fixed? True. Do they have a ton of things they could improve are yet to address? Yes.
So, why do I hate such a "game changer" (and similar empty expressions) update. Well, like I said before I bought an MPC. I don't want to torture myself pinching a damn cluttered touchscreen when I could achieve the same thing in 2 seconds with a mouse. When something tries to do a lot of things poorly instead of developing the workflow where it shines, it becomes redundant. Because you might as well use a….. Computer. And save yourself some time and trouble. Probably better than living that Dawless DAW life you feel me?
To put it simply, Akai just took a device with a 35 years legacy and pretty much turned it into a generic version of a portable DAW. Because some genius over there thought that removing things like Track Mutes per Sequence (which is a staple of the MPC worflow) was a good idea. Which hurts workflow for production and experimentation as well as for Live performances.Do some research and you'll see a lot of people complaining. I'm guessing that you're a superior musician so they're wrong. But that makes it kinda hard to be a Discord DJ. So now, people that actually used MPC's because they wanted MPC's are either stuck in MPC2 without further support/new content (and with bugs) or they have to update to the ForceOS and have their project files broken and pretty much use a workflow that goes against a lot of what they learned and loved about the device. There are workarounds I'm sure. But can you see how that actually hurts the device instead of proper feature planning. People wanted a better song mode and got something that completely broke their workflow. Just to cater to some casuals that are going "OMG A DAWLESS DAW! HYPE!" in a crammed and underpowered device. When all they needed was a….. Computer.
Instead of worrying about discord DJ's you could probably stop being an Internet Cringelord and either learn how to navigate and complement what you have or sell it and get what you want. Probably makes the forum a bit more breathable. Cause soem of you guys live for the youtubers, the features, the drama, the glam. And that's it. Next time post some music and address the other fellow users with politeness. We could probably break bread and have an interesting chat if you acted accordingly.

It wouldn't be appropriate to post my music in a thread whose subject is specifically about a competitor's most recent product updates & how it will influence the development of Maschine, if at all.
All of that over a joke, dude. I love Maschine and just want to see it better. Mostly, my attitude stems towards the dismissive nature I always get whenever I mention the problems this platform has. Whether it's from NI's social media team on facebook or fellow customers who make music in less technically demanding genres. If you don't understand why you'd want to have a song with more than one BPM, Time Signature, or Key Signature, then don't shout down the people who are asking for the means to do such a thing in this platform. NI can't just say "We make products for DJs dude hahaaaa check out our new kitchen cook-up video on youtube!" cause they've captured a massive section of the film composer market w/ Kontakt. Same thing w/ Linear Audio Recording. The MPC has worse specs than the Maschine, so they can't just tell us it's "too hard" and recommend we record into the audio module as a clip as a "solution"…especially when the audio module is notoriously resource-hungry.
What if Hans Zimmer were telling y'all "I love Maschine and I want to use it for orchestration. Why can't I do XYZ in it?" instead of some random. Would y'all get just as upset or defensive?

if he had done it for a couple of years and it was the essence of nearly every post, yes! But even Hans Zimmer would know maybe not to make that type of music with a tool that wasn’t designed to make that type of music, and then complain he used the wrong tool for it, and then blame NI and everyone else for it. But as always, the problem is with us, mere normal mortals who just don’t see and understand what you see and understand from your seat next to God up in the heavens.

I was mostly speaking about the new arranger which seems very dependent on using the touchscreen.
As for the Q-Links, unless you are using the X or the Force with plenty of knobs and scribble strips, the workflow is less than ideal. You have to bank constantly and in most cases it is just faster to modify a control directly via the touchscreen. And yes, this is from direct experience on the MPC One.Btw, I have no issues with touchscreens, that’s why I was suggesting using an iPad 😉

Hans probably uses Maschine as a plugin in his DAW. Problem sorted?
2 -
Yeah, but now I have to use my DAW's transport control instead of being able to treat the Maschine like a synchronized groovebox where it has its own transport, independent of my DAW. Problem created! ;n;

I have been using NI products for 7 years, starting with plugins, but I just entered the forum for the first time today in order to find discussions on this issue. I own Ableton Push 3, MPC One and Maschine MK3. I bought the MPC first, then bought the MK3 for a different experience, and in the following years I liked the feel of the Maschine more, as well as its appearance, so I rarely use my MPC. Now with the update of MPC3, I think it is time for NI to make a real change. The Maschine 2 software is completely behind the times. Yes, it still works, but that doesn't mean it is right to maintain the status quo. For my workflow, I always make loops and flip samples in Maschine or MPC, and then complete more detailed arrangements, mixing, etc. in hosts such as Ableton Live until the whole song is completed. This whole process is actually very exhausting because I have to keep exporting and importing, and after exporting the audio, I have no way to change the midi in the new host. I have always hoped that NI could launch a fully functional DAW, not just for Maschine, but a DAW that can compete with DAW giants such as Ableton and Logic. This DAW will be the culmination of NI products, including hardware, plug-ins, and sounds. If such a DAW can be released, it will be a real game changer, because NI's own excellent plug-ins and sounds are advantages that AKAI, a competitor in the field of percussion pads, does not have. You should not compete with AKAI, because you have too many things they don't have. Moreover, under such an ideal condition, not only AKAI, but even other software and hardware companies will be impacted. (Midi keyboard field, DAW field, etc.) Because the one-stop integrated experience is very important to me, many producers around me have the same wish, because we will not have to switch between different software, but can complete my entire song in a complete ecosystem (just like Ableton push and live). If this way of working is applied to various types of NI products, I feel very excited just thinking about it.
Of course, these may just be my fantasy. I have always loved the sound and appearance of various NI products, but with the update of mpc3, if NI does not make a strong response, I may sell mk3 (if there are still people who want it), and then take out my MPC from the cabinet, because I will be really disappointed.o7
