NKS User Library

@Kymeia Might be a good idea to start a closed thread with updates of things available in the User Library, so users can quickly find it?

I know I can browse the user library drive, but some have created NKS for things that have already been done recently, so it might save a lot of time. Just a suggestion though - much like the NKS2 compatible, or VST Migration list?

Yes good idea, also it would be good to have more mods because I'm not sure I have enough time to keep on top of every new development so if anyone is interested?

I'm always here, so happy to help moderate this area. The whole place, not so much - but this, happy to lend a hand.

Also, to save a LOT of work, it may be worth listing manfacturers, with links to the folder in User Library, because that's way easier to keep updated.

Yes I agree (and I did actually post a link to Freelance in my repositories post even though technically I maybe shouldn't have) but it isn't just up to me so I think we need clarification on this. I took that guideline as more to mean don't post NKS versions of commercial banks, which we don't allow in this thread either or in the NKS User Library

I only make NKS(1) files, not NKS2. What are your thoughts on managing that and is there a simple way to update to NKS2? Is only new graphics files (can be batch processed)?

You are free to take any of my NKS contributions and put them in a common lib.

Some of us are adding the higher res banner graphic (NKS2_hardware_banner.webp - 1280 x 212px) so they look nicer on Series III keyboard displays but apart from that I don't think there's a lot we can do - creating NKS2 can't be done from within KK (even KK3) so is closed off from users because it relies on features that can be built directly into plugins via (I presume) some sort of SDK/API (I don't know much about such things so that's a guess) and given the majority of NKS2 instruments are Kontakt based I guess also that there are tools available to some Kontakt devs, probably using advanced scripting.

So not for us mere mortals :)

You can code NKS 2 editable pages in KSP, so no additional tools needed.

NKS 2 format changes the .nksf file slightly, so instead of using msgpack, there's now an additional block of code (which looks like basic text) that defines the NKS 2 data, such as edit pages, parameters within those pages, then the msgpack data below, but not much else.

It should be easy to reverse engineer, to be honest - I just haven't had time to since November, but I would be amazed if Jester hasn't already figured it out.

OK cool - that is good news then. Sometimes it's good to be wrong :) Maybe in time someone will code a tool for editing NKS2 like the Doobox tool for editing NKS banknames
