I just usually take screenshots of the plugin or snag graphics off Google images to start with (or make my own for things like Logos)

Am I supposed to create a folder in C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\image and then place the images in it? Or should there already be a folder in C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\image eg: acustica ?

That's where I'm failing to understand the process

The image folder will be there but acustica subfolder won't unless there are already NKS for it

As i said (ok… i actually forgot to say it 😋) for all NKS presets where their plugins are not part of the "official NI partnership" (thus they do not have any resources), it is the user who has to create all the resources by his own effort…

Here are templates for all folders and files:

Please remember, every time you have to rename them (and edit them) with the current vendor/product name!

Also, if you do not have an MK3 keyboard (NKS2 compatible), then you do not need all those files, just those ones here:

Got some of it working for the MK3, but the IMAGE above the knobs probably needs some work ;/, I'd like the resolution to be better. ;) plus the browser image doesn't seem to be working correctly.

    ok, few tips: :-)

    dist_database

    th8.meta

Inside the document you can use capital first letter

    shortname.json

Use plugin name everywhere (not mandatory, if you do not have a Maschine MKI, MKII or Mikro)

    image

Do not write plugin extension 2 times, it does not needed and sometimes can cause problems… actually i'm surprise that your images working with those names!

another one… (an example of mistakes that can be done with duplicate extension name):

your NKS2_hardware_banner.webp is not a webp image but a png!

    same error for the NKS2_software_tile.webp

You need to re-save them both (Save as: WEBP)

Tip: The best way to deal with this problem (duplicate extension name) is to go to your Control Panel —> Folder Options —> View and enable the "Hide extensions for known files types"

For fully understand what i wrote you before, i temporarily disabled the above option and this is what i see in your images:

Conclusion: Those are the reasons why some images don't work correctly…
and also because you changed the default resolution on many images! 😋

This happened because you chose "preserve aspect ratio" when you saved the images. In most cases this is the correct thing, but in our case, it is not! Images must have the exact dimensions. They can be larger sometimes (for example, sometimes for the MST_logo i use 480x196 instead of 240x196!) but never smaller.

I hope I'm posting this in the correct area now.

So here's my request for some better understanding when you have a plugin, and can't seem to get the pics for this to show up in KK.

Is there a way to know for sure, if the folders are named correctly ? In NI Resources folder = dist_database / image , how do we know the correct names to use for the plugin?

It's a vst3 plugin. Is there a proper way to identify the plugin's correct name to be used in the NI Resources folder vs. just guessing ? How do we properly name the folders needed for the NKS NI Resources folder?

I've tried naming the folder > AlyJamesLab and have the meta file matching it, but it's not showing up after a rescan. Is there any other way to actually KNOW what to name the folder and correct dist_database / image without just guessing ? If it's not working with the obvious name one would think it was , is there any other possible way to identify it ?

Thanks, here's what I've got so far

If you are not sure about names etc. just save one preset!

The correct name will appear, then, click the "edit" to see the rest of the info. Just remember to use only small letters for folders (actually this is an old habit, once it was true but it might not apply anymore).

Unfortunately i don't have any of those plugins but i gave a quick look at your resources, so:

dist_database has alyjames folder and obx subfolder but images not! use the same structure on both resource types

maybe there are more issues i will take a deeper look and let you know, if any
