I read a lot of good things about Studiologic SL-88-GRAND. Another Fatar keybed.

No comparison in term of Midi control, but the keybed seems so good… but weighty

If I may also add my two cents. I had some problems and 3 different S88MK2 and they were also in repair because of the rattling keybed…..

Finally I switched to the Roland A88MK2 and it worked great, but I would like to have the Komplete Kontrol features.

When the S88MK3 came out, I bought it from the local dealer and after a month I brought it back, reason: the ****** keybed.

N.I. you should build an 88's with the keybed from the 61. I've already suggested this in writing to the managing director but, as always, I haven't received an answer.

Fazit: The S88MK3 is just as badly designed as the MK2. End of story

I have had the S88Mk3 for about two weeks now.. First things first I am not a pro piano player by any stretch I am a pro drummer that uses Piano and VST's to compose.. I had a Yamaha P-120 for decades, Graded Hammer Action, loved it , but was looking for a controller with slightly lighter action.. I have a a lot of NI instruments so it seemed logical to try this out.. and was excited about the integration.. So first thing "I" noticed is that it is taking some time to get used to the different action. I have set the Velocity Key to Soft 2 and mostly using the gentleman , which is an awesome sounding piano. Anyway that and the "accidentals" or black keys . seem to be slightly tapered on either side, and I find I'm not quite use to that yet, and my fingers are slipping off a lot. I'll play compositions I wrote that were very easy to perform on my previous keyboard , that seem more challenging now.. So it is taking some time to get use to the more "sluggish" feel to the board.. That said, part of the reason "could be" is this keyboard provides Polyphonic After touch. One has to keep in mind what the instrument is and what it attempts to be. Some "compromises " might be inevitable. The MK3 is a controller for a vast array of instruments, not just Piano. as Mentioned I have lots of NI vst's and the thing about this keyboard is it integrates with other companies and will more so in the future. I really like the board, and its features, but have to see if the action is too heavy for me as ( my hands are a bit older now :0) and this is a deciding factor whether I keep it , and or look at at another controller without the same features.. The only one that comes to mind is the Arturia Keylab 88 Mk2 .. any feedback would be welcomed .. cheers
