Is Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 Fully Compatible with Traktor Pro 3 on macOS High Sierra (10.13)?

Hi NI Community,

I'm currently preparing for some travel and need to upgrade my DJ controller from the Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk2 (which has served me beautifully!) to the S4 Mk3. Before I make the purchase, I want to confirm compatibility with my current setup and a few practical details.

I’m running macOS High Sierra (10.13) and already have Traktor Pro 3 installed and working fine. I installed it a while ago, and it runs smoothly on this OS. However, I’m aware that newer versions of Traktor Pro 3 and Native Access 2 don’t support macOS 10.13.

So I have a few questions:

  1. Will the Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 work properly with Traktor Pro 3 on macOS 10.13, as long as I don’t update the software?
  2. Do I need to install any drivers or firmware updates that would require a newer macOS version?
  3. Will all key functions of the S4 Mk3 work with the older macOS if I'm running an older but stable Traktor Pro 3 version?
  4. Will my existing Traktor S4 Mk2 travel case fit the S4 Mk3? Or do I need to plan for a new case before traveling?

Thanks so much in advance for any insight! I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with this setup or official NI support. 🙏

    Hello,

    1. Yes, it should work properly. Traktor Pro 3.5.3 is compatible with macOS 10.13 High Sierra. The S4 Mk3 itself is designed to integrate with Traktor Pro 3. As long as you stick to a version of Traktor Pro 3 that supports 10.13 (like 3.5.3 or earlier versions compatible with 10.13), you should be fine.
    2. The Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 is generally class-compliant on macOS, meaning it often doesn't require a separate driver installation for basic functionality.
    3. The S4 Mk3's core functionalities (jog wheels, faders, knobs, buttons, mixer FX, displays, DVS capability) are integral to its design and are supported by Traktor Pro 3. As long as you're running a stable, High Sierra-compatible version of Traktor Pro 3.
    4. I would plan a different travel bag since S4 MK3 is slightly bigger than past versions. You can also keep yours and try it out, since depending on the material, it could expand.
