Session Guitarist - Electric Storm Deluxe: Losing the sound all the time

Hi everybody,

I'm facing an odd problem with Session Guitarist - Electric Storm Deluxe

I try to play midi files (originally programmed in Guitar Pro 5, then exported as midi and importat into my DAW Cubase Artist 14) with the Electric Storm VST. When I use the "Melody Instrument" I initially have sound and I am also able to play my midi files in the DAW with the sound of Electric Storm. BUT once I stop playing, there is no more sound within Kontakt 8 (full version) when I press any note on the animated keyboard of Electric Storm. And also when I press play in my DAW there is also no more sound. Though on the animated keyboard there are visible movements. I then have to reload the "Melody Instrument" and I have sound again but as soon as I played in the DAW and pressed "stop" it's the same thing all over again…

Anyone any idea what the problem is?!? First time I experience this kind of sound loss of a Kontakt instrument.

    Hello,

have you checked that there is no automation in your midi file, also have a look at the vertical volume slider of kontakt.

    Hi Uwe,

Many thanks for your reply! Have checked the vertical volume slider and it does not change before/after I play something. I also did not find an automation in the midi files. All the other midi files from the same source are triggered (bass, drums and keys - all also via Kontakt). It's only the guitar parts. When I use them with other plugins they are played. It's now with Electric Storm that I have these problems for the first time🤷‍♂️

Oh dude I cannot figure out how to use this library haha! It is a convoluted nightmare beyond description. The issues I'm having are so difficult to even phrase that I just don't even know how to troubleshoot them hahaha. I think the library is not intended to be used to write whatever you want. Here is a video of me attempting to just write down in midi the audio that I want produced, but when I put it in the sequencer, I get a totally different midi sequence. Truly nightmarishly odd. I do not understand the "stop within 1/8th" at the shortest? Other sessions let me stop instantly? This one for some reason will literally keep playing the pattern into the next phrase. They say to use the "B1" stopper that makes a noise like you stopped the guitar. Don't want that noise, just want the phrase to stop when the midi note stops and then to play the next part of the sequence. Really have spent weeks trying to figure these basic problems out and it's a no go sadly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45OWexIPH2I

Have you tried the melody instrument, that's maybe exactly what you need. Also read the manual about both versions can help, and yes I also think those instruments are not very easy to get your head around.

Nah stopped using it, won't work, once it works I'll try at it again. There are horrific hard-inherent issues that make the library very frustrating and bizarre/annoying to use. Nothing like the other session guitarist libraries which are fantastic, they really must've pushed this one out super fast and forgot about some fundamental features, figures.

Who would make their newest session guitarist lacking in core features? Nobody that cares too much. With session acoustic, I stop the audio when the note stops. I can set it to stop instantly, within 1/8th, within 1/4th, etc. Perfect control. This library? No. All notes for no good reason at all, go on for at LEAST 1/8th after the note has stopped. That's the shortest you can set it. Not "instantly" like the other libraries. That's straight up horrifying if you write MIDI you understand how nightmarish that scenario is lol. The "chug" stop feature is extremely bad because 1. I don't want a chug stop noise there and 2. it STRAIGHT UP DOESN'T STOP THE AUDIO HALF THE TIME LOL. But on top of that, it's literally not necessary, just have a stop instantly feature?!?!?!? It's that simple. When I have used it, I had to automate the volume in my DAW to stop notes, which ended up with me having to do even more insane adjustments to the MIDI to give the stops some more realism.

Another thing is the patterns will play differently when you play them on a keyboard vs. writing them down in MIDI. It's straight up horror. I had a realllllly sick melody I came up with by switching from patterns to melody writing mode that I played on a keyboard, then when I wrote it down on MIDI/played it in, it just plays back something totally different. Like, the patterns will just start and stop all finnicky and weirdly and play from random points in the bar or 2. So I had to record the melody live to audio. Utterly insane in 2025. The library has some cool patterns and recordings but straight up not usable for the time being, sadly.
