I need Kontakt 5 player on my new computer, because I used it in Cubase on my previous one

Sorry in advance for my bad english,

I have a new computer and I try to open cubase sessions from my previous computer. On this one, I used Kontakt 5 player. So I have multiples instances of it on old sessions, especially for NI Strings Session. But it is impossible to find kontakt 5 on the new Native Access. I have found a kontakt 5 player installer online, and now it doesn‘t load the Strings Session preset on my cubase sessions. I am pretty sure that it is because Strings Session is not activated for Kontakt 5 player on my new computer (while Strings Session is registered on Native Access, and works fine on Kontakt 8 and 7).

In the kontakt 5 player, when I click on the ”activate” button above NI Strings Session, the player closes itself and nothing happens. I think it is because the player is not to related to (the new) Native Access.

I want to be able to open my old sessions in their previous state on my new computer, so that I can at least copy those old instances of kontakt 5 player with proper kontakt 8 instances.

What can I do to solve my problem ?

Is there a solution to activate instruments for Kontakt 5 Player in my configuration ? Or can I locate the Kontakt 5 Player with Native Access ?

If you have Kontakt 5 in your NI Acct - either as a standalone product or part of an older Komplete bundle - you should see it available to install within Native Access v3.17.0

I see Kontakt 5 in my listing in NA and can install it at any time.

Some users reported in many threads that with similar problems (Kontakt 5 in demo mode) using previous version of Native Access (be fast: they are about to retire it) and following some steps worked for them.

This is just one of those threads, use search function to eventually find others:

But it is impossible to find kontakt 5 on the new Native Access.

Did you check the Nativa Access settings Legacy Products : Show discontinued products ?

I don't have Kontakt 5 (the FULL version), I used Kontatk 5 PLAYER, mostly for my NI Session Strings Pro. (Maybe my question is not in the proper topic…but, is there a "Kontakt Player" topic ?…

As I've just replied to Vocalpoint, I'm talking about the Kontakt 5 PLAYER. Actually, at one point of my efforts to solve my problem, I've found (there : https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/fr/articles/360000568949-Programmes-d-installation-Kontakt-Player-pour-les-syst%C3%A8mes-d-exploitations-anciensand installed Kontakt 5 (the FULL version). This Kontakt 5 was in demo mode, and I realized that I've not installed the good version, and went back to research the PLAYER version of Kontat 5.

So my impression through the reading of the title is that the link you gave me here doesn't answer my question, but maybe I'm wrong about it ?

If you do not own Kontakt 5 - pretty sure the Player version is no longer available.

And even if you could find it - you would need the super old (dating back circa Komplete 8) version of Session Strings Pro to get this going. That version is mostly likely not available anymore either.

I thought the version installed was the same and, depending on the serial, Player or Full version get activated.

At least that is what I read multiple times

    Am I wrong?

That's what I get when I click on the "Kontakt 5" shortcut on my desktop :

You can see at the top "KONTAKT PLAYER", it's not the full version, and it's not in demo mode.

But my Session Strings Pro IS in demo Mode (whereas it's activated in my more recent Kontakt players). Interrestingly, my other instruments doesn't appear in Kontakt 5 player… just the Session strings pro.

When I click on activate, the player closes itself, and nothing happens.

You are not wrong. But there is catch (I think)

While I have K5 in my stable of stuff:

It is not listed as Player. Note how K8 Player is listed - and I do not own that yet.

My theory is - if this was 2018 - K5 Player might be listed - but I think as the versions (and years) roll by - the one (and only) "Player" that does appear in NA - is always the very latest one.

Now we are getting somewhere. Your Player is good. It's your Session String Library that is not.

You need to check your official Product listing in your NI Acct (online via the website) and confirm exactly what you are licensed for.

This issue above could be one of two things - the version of Session Strings cannot load in this version of Kontakt Player OR you are not licensed for the product - it is one or the other.

I think you have it listed as Kontakt 5 and not Kontakt 5 Player simply because you own the full version and therefore the serial activated the full version (removing the “Player” caption).

    Is it possible?

But…returning on OP’s issue: now that we know that you are able to open Kontakt 5 Player, I think Vocalpoint is right and the issue is in the new version of Session Strings Pro.

Same things happened with Kontakt 6 and Jeremy made a thread with links to previous versions of libraries working with Kontakt 6.

If you want you can try to install those versions of the libraries, hoping they also work with Kontakt 5.

Agreed. However - I do not recall ever seeing more than 1 "player" available at one time in NA.

Regardless of what a user owns.

And judging by that last screencap - the OP is good to go with K5 Player - it's his Session Strings library that is coming back Demo

Yes, I think you are right and I already posted about previous versions of that (and other) libraries available for download here in the forum.

I even think it could work for OP. NI started to increase the Kontakt version request only lately with the last updates. Previously (in K6 and K5 years) the updates rarely required newest version every time. Libraries (even updated) worked well with previous versions
