Maschine+ 1.6.1 is here!

This release focuses on stability, critical bug fixes, and compatibility improvements for Maschine 2 on Maschine+ – laying important groundwork ahead of the upcoming Maschine 3 (on Maschine+) update.

For users planning to stay on Maschine 2 (on Maschine+), we’ve addressed a number of long-standing issues you’ve flagged to ensure a smoother, more reliable experience.

Key updates in 1.6.1:

  • System-level improvements including a kernel upgrade
  • Sample rate and buffer size settings are now adjustable to improve compatibility with a wider range of USB audio class-compliant interfaces. (Note: Raising the buffer size does not reduce CPU usage, which remains optimized for real-time pad performance.)
  • New effect compatibility: Maschine+ now supports the Mod and Crush Pack effects—Freak, Dirt, Flair, Bite, and Choral. (You must own a valid license in your account for them to appear in the Library tab.)

Instrument upgrade: Maschine+ now supports Massive 1.7, bringing improved compatibility and NKS 2 support.

How to update

  • Connect your Maschine+ to Wi-Fi
  • Press the Settings button and go to the System page
  • Press Soft Button 8 to install the update

Added and Improved

  • Improved external audio interfaces compatibility and stability
  • User adjustable sample rate and buffer size
  • Support for Mod & Crush pack effects (Freak, Dirt, Flair, Bite, and Choral)
  • Updated Massive to 1.7.0 compatibility and NKS 2 support

Fixes

  • Internal system updates for stability and performance improvements
  • Cross platform support for presets:
    • Reaktor presets saved on the Maschine+ not loading on Maschine desktop.
    • Massive presets saved on Maschine desktop not loading the Maschine+.

Looking ahead:

Maschine 3 is coming to Maschine+ next, bringing the Maschine 3 feature set, deeper NI plugin compatibility including Kontakt 8, Play Series instruments, and the powerful new bounce-in-place feature – designed to support more CPU-intensive workflows. You’ll see continued expansion of supported NI content with that release.

Thanks for your feedback and patience – your input continues to shape these updates.

I'll be around here until next Wednesday, April 23rd at 3 PM CET, and I’ll do my best to answer any questions you have about this update.

I'm most active in this thread, so if you’ve got anything you’d like to ask about Maschine, this is a great time - happy to help!

first of all thank you for the update and the look ahead... looking forward for Maschine 3 compatibility.

Is there any plan for a Guitar Rig Lite on Maschine+? That would be awesome!

    Cheers

(Note: Lowering the buffer size does not reduce CPU usage, which remains optimized for real-time pad performance.)

Should this be raising the buffer size?

Except the experienced ‘white flash pads’ on startup (after switching sd cards), the update runs very stable and smooth. Thanks!

For future updates I hope we’ll see an ‘version 2 compatible’ export feature in Maschine 3 on desktop, so we can say goodbye to Maschine 2 software. I know we can upgrade the M+ to version 3 somewhere in the future, but I would really appreciate to have a stable M+ until version 3 is completely stable In standalone.

Great update, thank you NI! I love the Maschine+ and glad to see the best groovebox on the market just keep getting better. It's great to see the new FX come to the Plus! Couple of questions:

    1. Are there plans to add Replika in?
    2. Automation on Maschine+ is tough without any visual feedback. While it's great to be able to record and delete, and also use param locking, I'm wondering if there are any near term plans to get some more functionality to add more control? i.e. 1) Add a Slew settings option for a sound (i.e. maybe in Groove sound setting screen) to control the curve & time of parameter changes. 2). Press Auto + Step to view/edit steps in automation in the same way as viewing MIDI steps. 3) Option to assign a basic curve (maybe have some stock curves), depth, sync to assign as Automation instead of recording. 4) Assignable LFOs/Envelopes. 5) Add additional destinations to Sampler, i.e. Decay.
    3. Possibility of adding time? Perhaps next to BPM & Position. I make sound tracks for videos and suck at math converting BPM/Position to actual timeline.

I would like to second the hope for better automation. I think it is the last thing that would take the Maschine to stratospheric heights.

Also as someone who heavily uses the Maschine jam should I consider opting out of the Maschine 3 upgrade? I know that the jam is supported with Maschine 3 as of right now but I fear the device will loose support during the life span of the software

they will never discontinue the Jam. I certainly hope not.

Thanks for the great update!!! I’m not whining over FX I don’t own, I’m just happy they are slowly being ported!!!! Like I said earlier, it’s like finding my wife again but 10 years younger and snappier hahaha!!

    @Chris_NI Thank you 🙏

    1. Are you considering adding export to Ableton Project format? MPC has it, and even some iPad apps support it.
    2. What happened to the Bluetooth module inside the Maschine? Are you planning to support it, or is there nothing planned for that part of the unit? I’d really love to connect my BT keyboard to the M+, just like I do with the One+.
    3. Is WiFi transfer planned for the M+? It seems like others already have it, and honestly, ejecting the card to back up or transfer a project isn’t very convenient in 2025.
    4. Sushi 🍣 or pizza 🍕? ;)

Happy Easter 🐣 to you and the whole team!

@Chris_NI thank you for the update and new firmware release.

Any idea on the timeline of the update that brings Maschine 3 compatibility ?

Also, regarding the buffer setting exposed in the 1.6.1, is it also applicable to the internal audio card ?

Regarding features and wishes on my side. considering the recent and upcoming updates’ changes and features I believe the M+ is a very complete piece of kit. I personally have nothing major to ask than add some compatible content/plugins and maybe make an OS integrated vocoder feature. Though possible, adding it through ensembles is neither convenient nor easy to use because of the routing that needs to be done manually using the right and left inputs, if it was built-in to the OS it would probably be way simpler to use. You also have a chance to make a very high quality sounding one this way.

    hi

1/first of all thank you very much!

2/Will we be able to have Maschine 2 (for compatibility with my old laptop) AND Maschine 3 on two different SD cards or something?

3/ using Maschine+ as a loop/backing track player, the audio plugin lacks essential stability when dealing with external MIDI clock tempos (CPU% skyrockets at higher tempos with Stretch and Formant modes, and is too wobbly at Repitch), has this been dealt with in this update? (i just tried it seems not :'( )

4/it's impossible to trigger different MIDI changes from the same device and channel and mode, which would come in very handy in some live situations (changing the lock state/instruments while changing the section of the live set)… i see this has not been solved so i give myself a chance and pray someone removes this limitation

thank you all very much again!

    Frohe Ostern.

    Hi, very nice update.

One question: If one changes the sample rate e.g. from 44100 to 96000 Hz will this also affect / change the sounds of samples?

    Hello,well done about the update.

It is very important for me at the current moment to be able to roll back to 1.5.1 if anything goes wrong.

    Is this possible?Thanks.
