Crossfade on only one deck?

Hei, just got my Z1 MK2 and TraktorPro 4 license this week and I have some questions as a complete newcomer to Traktor and DJ-ing. For the foreseeable future I see using this equipment at salsa socials events where the only mixing I want to do is have crossfade between tracks and use the Z1 MK2 mostly to control the volume and occasionally pre-listen to songs. I understand that this equipment is very overkill for what I want to do but in the future I want to explore more options. So this is the picture.

I've been playing with the Preparation playlist and I can get tracks playing from there in sequence but I would like to add a 2-3 seconds crossfade between songs. The only option I found is using the Cruise mode but this also uses Deck B but I would like to keep Deck B clean and only occasionally pre-listen to tracks. So is there a way to only play from Deck A and add crossfade between tracks?

You don't need to load a track to a deck to prelisten to it. You can do that with the preview player from the collection browser / Playlist.

You can map a key to use it, or via drag n drop. See the manual for details.

That seems like a good workaround, thank you.

But just to make sure, what I'm trying to do with crossfade on only one deck is it even possible?

You can activate and deactivate (as well as select the side of) the crossfader for every deck separately. You may have to enable the GUI bar for the crossfader (and monitor controls) in Preferences though.

No, you can't use a single deck for 2 songs at the same time.

By other words, one cannot crossfade on one deck.

But maybe cruise would work on A and C, I have newer tried. And you could use B to like. But I have feeling that cruise switches off the moment one changes volume and so…

Prelisenning might work in paralel with cruise.

You can use a Remix Deck via Kontrol F1. Then map slot 1 and 2 volume to a single fader or the crossfader.
