    The think with modular that I didn't like with Softtube's NKS files for Modular is that they include NKS presets that required paid modules. So you would hear something you like only to find modules missing when you loaded the preset. It seems like they were only VST2. Having said that, I would buy some VST3 versions.

    Modular seems kind of complex to make for that reason also. I can certainly look, I don't own it but the core plugin is $89USD but modular ones are always tricky

    The problem with Modular is each preset patch needed its own mapping because of being modular so that’s a lot of work

    On the other hand it may be worth it because Softube’s preset manager really sucks

    I might start making some in small batches but tbh I’m only going to be motivated to make NKS for patches I actually like and frankly a lot of the factory content is terrible


    Maybe if we divide it up as a community we can cover more ground and faster?

    I'd just figure out some way to automate the process. Not sure who has the time to sit and do one preset at a time.

    Looking at how Softube have done it with the VST2 version they do appear to have automated it - there is basically 1-3 pages per module (depending on complexity) but the layout of params is all over the place, like they have just gone by automation number rather than logical groupings of params - this is specially apparent in the Buchla OSCs - also params are just given their default automation names so naming is a mess too

    Will come down to demand. TBH, the softube libraries I have are really not all that in demand so I can only assume this was a decision that Softube came to as well, too much effort to manage and headache with NI having to approve everything Vs the actual payoff. Common story across most devs I have spoken with.

    Likely they had some kind of script they developed that generated pages based on the first group of used parameters. If it doesn't really make sense from a layout perspective and the labelling isn't cleaned up, chances are it was simply a quick attempt at making it somewhat usable.

    The problem with modular synths apart from just mapping the controls is it makes zero sense (to me) to own a modular synth plugin and then just use NKS for preset flipping since you would think that ideally, you would find something then maybe spend some time adding some new modules or designing something slightly different which of course means you have to redo the whole template anyway. Unlike a traditional synth where you can load anything and get a start from there, even just switching in a new FX module means you have messed up the template mapping

    I have automated mapping processes with plugins like Falcon where especially with the Falcon Expansions they completely change parameters and loose all mapping (the joys of UVI) just switching between 2 presets in the same bank. I have some of the most complicated scripting for Falcon to cope with this, issue is it has taken years to fine tune and make it actually do what I need and still needs to be babysat for the occasional rogue operation but I have many standalone plugin libraries I have developed that I can reuse so I have a starting point, just sometimes it can take just as much time to develop a reliable method than just sitting and doing by hand depending on the preset count.

    I love a challenge and if there is demand I will check it out sooner, tho I have a list of about 10-20 libraries on the go at the moment so it depends on the requests, i've logged it to have a look at some stage anyway.

    @Kymeia if you have the old VST2 library can you just zip it and PM me if possible? I will see what they did and see if I can improve on it at all.
