Don't really know when it happened,

A couple of months ago everything was fine with all my stuff

Yesterday I opened raum, guitar rig 6, flair, choral and many others and they have just a blank screen

I have reinstalled through native access (last version) but it was useless

My DirectX drivers are updated, version 11.2

And nothing hardware changed in my pc

Maybe some windows 10 update??

I have complete ultimate 14 collector edition

Any hint???

Perhaps it has to do with some specific cards only, or most probably with some specific graphic card settings, such as Vertical Sync (please make sure it is disabled unless if the major purpose of your computer is to play games!), Anisotropic filtering or something else.

But i will say it again: Desktop computer 8 years old, with generic graphic card (same old, an AMD Radeon HD 6450) and DirectX 11 can run every Native Instruments application (including Kontakt) with no problem at all!

    _______________________________________

    Also: Kontakt 7 system requirements

Windows 10 or 11 (latest Service Pack), Intel Core i5 or equivalent CPU, 2 GB RAM.
Graphics hardware support for OpenGL 2.1 or higher and Direct 3D 11.1 (Feature Level 11_0) or higher.

…according to your screenshot few comments above, you are good to go! So, maybe OpenGL is your problem?

yes, kontakt 7 works but the great news it that i solved!

as suggested in another post, i set

    QSG_RHI=1

    QSG_RHI_BACKEND=opengl

as system variables in the "advanced system settings"

i feel that it was this trick…

i also downgraded guitar rig and raum to the previous versions, but now i can open all the other plugins that were not working. I will upgrade again and see what's happening…

Hey there, I think I've replied to a lot of your posts this morning about the same issue, can you post a screenshot of this, also showing the feature level?

right now I'm not at the music PC but i remember it shows 11.2

Nevertheless what should it say and how should I update if the version doesn't match?

I had the same problem for months.

My DX12 only has feature levels 10_1 (display is HD3000), so I pretty much gave up on using Kontakt 7 cos it was a black screen. I downgraded my libraries to version 1.0 & used Kontakt 6.8.0.

THEN, by chance I updated Kontakt 7 to version 7.10.4 & voila!!! It works now, no more black screen & is using the libraries (updated to 2.0 versions) perfectly - in Standalone, & Maschine). In Komplete Kontrol I still get an incompatible error, but it's ok for me now cos I primarily use it through Maschine, sometimes in Kontakt Standalone

Not sure how I got it working with my DX12 feature levels 10_1 but my steps in order are:

    • Tried in version previous to Kontakt 7.10.4 (didn't work)
    • Downgraded my libraries to version 1.0, compatible with Kontakt player 6.8.0 (worked in Kontakt 6.8.0)
    • Updated Kontakt 7 player to version 7.10.4
    • Updated libraries to 2.0 versions requiring Kontakt 7.6 or higher (all works besides in Komplete Kontrol)

Only Serato Sample does not work for me in Maschine (GUI Error), but funnily it works if I load it in Serato Studio.

Here are my specs in case some1 wants to comb thru it & identify why & how it's working with my HD3000 Display which is limited to DX12 feature levels 10_1, while DX12 feature levels 11_1 are required for Kontakt 7 player to work.

but if things worked 2 months ago, why does they not work now? i did not remember having upgraded lots of NI stuff in the last months…

Have no idea. Mine wasn't working months ago & now it does. It shouldn't due to my limit on DX12 feature levels, but it does now. Hence me posting my specs so some1 can figure it out & share with the forum.

Simply, download and install Direct3D 12 from Microsoft

Note: Link above, is a direct download, English version. If you need the page to choose a different language or operating system, here it is:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

However, be advised that your AMD Radeon R5 200 Series, might not be compatible with DirectX 12, (i had that card 8 years ago) otherwise your system would probably updated it through Windows Update!

    _______________________________________________

Edit: However, i can confirm that Kontakt 7 works fine with DirectX 11, on Windows 10

ok, installed it but nothing changed.

now… which basic graphic card should I purchase to continue using NI products??? i have no other needs that running music software and office stuff.

very weird that I must change a video card to use music software…

@bosone Which DAW are you using?

Does the problem disappear when you use a different DAW? Also try the free ones, like VSTHost and Savihost.

If you tried with two different DAWs, then I'm pretty sure that it's a general issue. @Sunborn is probably right, and you need a graphics card with support for DirectX 12.

As far as I can see, the card you're using is pretty long in the tooth by now. Tech gets obsolete very quick these days… not just in the Mac OS camp.

If the problem is the graphics card and you need another then I made some suggestions over here. Some months old now so I don't know how fitting it is now.

    Thanks again!

i would look for a fanless card, the one mentioned seems to be higher profile… if it even exists a fanless DX12 card… :)

where can i look for that settings?

and what about openGL!? what should I do?

my PC is really new, just the graphic card may be old, but it was purchased in 2020 (sapphire radeon r5 230 2GB)
