Fixed Velocity won't latch on - Maschine Mikro Mk3

The 'Fixed Vel' key won't stay latched with my Maschine Mikro Mk3 in either Pad Mode, Keyboard Mode. When I press the button, it lights up and the LCD display allows me to set the fixed velocity (if I wanted to). But when I release the button it goes off again. Isn't this supposed to latch on or off as per the user manual?

    I made two mistakes. I posted in the wrong category. And the problem is related to light. In the daytime, I didn't notice that the light is half lit. It lights up fully while held down to allow setting of the fixed velocity but latches at half light. It works correctly.
