I spent 3 hours today trying to fix free software with "updates" available. Solution. Delete NI and use Arturia Labs or Spitfire. NI is horrible.

I had the "installation failed" error with an update to Guitar Rig 7 Pro. The solution from @Ruckman65 did help. Thanks Ruckman!

Since the Ruckman65 fix referred to here appear to be downgrade to and use N.A. 1 , then I will have to inform you that the old N.A. 1 one will not show all available downloads and updates so that type of 'fix' is just introducing another set of problems for you.

EDIT ! , I see from your post over here that you went on to install the new version of N.A. afterwards so it appears as you have solved that part also. Congratulations.

TROUBLESHOOTING NATIVE INSTRUMENTS KONTAKT 7 PLAYER INSTALLATION FAILURE ON WINDOWS 10

    1. Launch the "Native Acces" file manager.
    2. Uninstall kontakt-7 via the "Native Access" file manager.
    3. Exit the "Native Access" file manager
    4. Download "NI Uninstall RegTool_64bit", unzip and run it.
    5. Select kontakt-7 and delete it so it cleans it's registry entry.
    6. Locate the "Native Instruments" file manager again on your system but right click it's icon to launch it with Windows Admin powers.

    EXAMPLE

    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Native Access

Select icon & then right click mouse button to get the Windows context menu.

    Select "Run as administrator"

    7. Navigate into the "Library" section ( left side window pane ) & look for "Kontakt 7 Player"

Now on the far right side of the screen click the 3 small dots next to it & opt to install, reinstall or update.

    ###########################################

If it fails again, close the "Native Acces" file manager & re-launch it with admin powers again.

Try to uninstall the "Kontakt 7 Player" if it's installed seeking an update & try a fresh reinstall.

I got it to install successfully by launching the the "Native Acces" file manager with admin powers.

Didn't have to uninstall "Kontakt 6 Player" or use an older "Native Access" file manager.

If it still fails, try rebooting and doing the steps again.
