Which analyze option should I use?

I want to make sure that I don't lose all my Ratings/Genre/Comments, etc., tags, if I have to reinstall Windows, say, or start over on a new computer.

With that in mind, is my best option to choose one of the options to write tags to files? (ie., am I right in thinking that if the tags have been written to the files, the tags would all still be there if I reimported those audio files into a new install on a new computer?)

If so, am I likely to encounter problems with certain types of audio file (most of my music is flac or wav)?

All tags will be there, as long as you keep (backup) the Traktor user folder, or at least those sub-folders:

    Coverart, Settings, Stripes, Transients

OK. Thanks. I am trying to find a fool-proof way - I can be a fool - so that if I forget to back up the Traktor User folder, I definitely will still not lose my tags.

So, do you mean in your reply that even if I write tags to files I still have to back up the Traktor user folder, or will backing up be unnecessary if I have written all tags to files?

I guess I am confused by the phrase "Write all tags to files" - does this mean "write to the audio files themselves", or does it mean "write files for all the tags into the User folder"?

Also, can anyone confirm that the tag writing in TP3 works well with FLAC and WAV files. I used to have problems years ago with Traktor not wanting to write tags to WAV files.

All tags will remain of files, even the Traktor exclusive ones, but, future versions might not be able to read them (only the exclusive Traktor ones!). Also without backing up you will loose all the file analysis and you will have to re-analyze them all!

    Both!

    Yes, absolutely!

Thanks so much for the info. Appreciate you taking the time. I had missed the point about needing to re-analyze if I don't back up.
