Question about Massive's File Tree Browser

I have a question regarding the file tree that appears when pressing the "Sounds" button in Massive's View > Browser tab.

Issues I'm experiencing:

• When I select a preset folder, nothing appears in the right-side table (Name, Modified, etc.). The presets only show up when I select the Massive Sounds folder inside.
  • Example:
    • Selecting the "Amplefied Funk" folder → Nothing appears
    • Selecting the "Bass" folder inside "Amplefied Funk" → Nothing appears
    • Selecting the "Massive Sounds" folder inside "Amplefied Funk" → Finally, the presets are displayed
  • Is this the expected behavior?
• Each preset folder remains expanded by default, displaying all subfolders, which makes navigation very cluttered.
  • Is this the standard behavior?

Desired Behavior:

• When selecting a root preset folder, I want the preset list to be displayed in the right-side table.
• The folder tree should be collapsed by default instead of always being expanded.

I've been tweaking various settings and lost track of whether this is the default behavior or not, so I wanted to ask the community.

Things I've tried:

• Reinstalling Massive
• Rebuilding the database

To be honest, I'm not sure what the Sounds feature is supposed to be used for. If the behavior above is normal, I feel like the search (magnifying glass) mode is far more practical.

Any insights would be appreciated!

Sorry , you didn't quote my post and did not use the @wakame as I did to you here , so I only found your responses when routinely going over older posts.

I actually think that your problem is that you are trying to display something that it is not there.

E.g. if you look at the Amplified Funk in your file browsing mode then there are no 'files' that are not in file folder Massive Sounds , and there is your problem , the other folders are empty. Then if you go to Sound browsing mode then there are all sorts of types showed in categories like e.g. Bass and Bowed strings but that is because of the attributes/tags attached to the 'files' that is in the Massive 'file folder'. So while the Database View shows sounds in categories because of attributes then in this case they are all 'files' from the Massive Sounds 'file folder'.

Quote Massive manual : The File Tree View is visible when the Sounds button is deactivated by clicking with the mouse. In this view, some of the elements within the Control Bar will fade, and in place of the columns of attributes a common file tree is displayed, showing all the folders and drives on your computer.

Quote Massive Manual : The Database View is visible when the Sounds button is activated by clicking with the mouse. It consists of the table of attributes itself as well as the Sound Type switch.

Then to make matters a lot 'worse' then , as far as I can see after having spent 3-4 hours on examining this , the manual gives a completely false impression because what you browse in the so called File Tree View still is not actual files but still either 'files' via a database or simply only a database, E.g. in the File Tree View you will see folders with names such as 'Anima Ascent' and 'Aquarius Earth' but you will neither find any files nor any folders by that names on your computer , they simply do not exist. So what you are dissatisfied with is the organization of the database files that you are browsing.

Thus the only way to rectify your 'problem' would be to edit the database itself , which apparently can be done but takes a lot of time and trouble or maybe , and I am not sure about that, then you can edit attributes one by one in the Massive interface (ref. : Defining Attributes).

Since the editing of the actual Massive database is such a difficult topic then I will suggest that you either make peace with the database organization in the 'File Tree View' or simply use the Database View as I do.

I will mark this 'problem' as solved.

Stuff works as shown on screenshot for me using Massive standalone on Windows 11 , not sure how else you want it to work , especially since you do not provide a screenshot of what you think is the problem.

Be sure that you are using latest version of Native Access for your OS

If you think that Massive is misbehaving the try uninstalling it again and then also use the N.I. reg tool to remove anything Massive (as opposed to Massive X) ,

then reboot PC then reinstall Massive to see if that helps.

When set to 1, lower folders are closed.

Also, when in state 1, I would like the presets to be displayed like in 3.
