Q: Translation inserted by Moderator (translation by DeepL)

Hello,

I hope someone speaks French, my problem is the following: in Traktor, I have titles that are at the very bottom of the list, whereas everything is perfectly tagged in alphabetical order in my folders on the dd. There are also titles that are not displayed, or are displayed incorrectly, whereas in the folder, everything is ok.

This only happens in the software and I don't know why. I'm attaching a photo, with Eric Clapton at the bottom, which is not normal!

Any ideas?

You can right click a track and edit the tags, like artist, title, release date etc.

    What is a dd folder?

Changing the file name does not change the tags. Weird that it changed any sorting in traktor. Are you sorting by file name or by artist?

I don't know how you accrue you tracks, but if you buy them legit it's weird that they don't have tags or improper tags. You might want to read up on how to do that yourself. I use mp3tag and OneTagger.

I've always been told to do a consistency check after changing file names or tags.

If you don't Traktor doesn't know there was a change, and might even write the old values back to the file.

It is not necessary (or even important) to change the names on your hard disc folder, it will have no effect anyway. What you need to do is, tag the files. Personally i prefer to do it outside of Traktor, using this software here (but there are more of course):

It is much easier than doing it inside Traktor. However, of course you can do it there too. Here is how:

1- Choose the file/files you want, right-click and choose "Edit".

2- On the next screen, enable the tags you want and fill in all the info.

3- When done, first click "Apply" and then "OK"

    That's all! ;-)

You can also do mass-tagging (multiple files) as long as you want to change values that are the same for all selected tracks (i.e. same artist name, same release etc.)

Alphabetical means in English only and when first letter is a capital.

If your name (for example, eric clapton) is in any other language or starts with a small letter, it goes at the bottom.

To explain better, alphabetical starts with the numbers (0-9) then goes to capital letters (A-Z), then to small letters (a-z) and at the end (bottom) it adds everything else (including other languages)… :-)

In your case, if you want to see eric clapton track together with the rest "E" tracks, just rename it to Eric Clapton (in English)

Please pay attention, if you are using French keyboard, the track will remain at the bottom, thus you have to switch languages first (because in spite that English and French E are the same, the software will still see the French language)!

For titles that are not displayed: The tracks are not tagged correctly. You have to edit them, write the correct values and then click "apply".

I don't think it's because of the capital letter, but in this case it's a é

Traktor is really bad with non english characters. The Portuguese hate it.

    also true, but,

in this case i think even a small English e will go at the bottom (however, upper than it is now),

and also a capital é will had the same effect (showed at the bottom), since it is another language

btw, it is not just Traktor… many apps behave in the same way,
however, on multi-language software, the alphabetical order prioritized according to the software's installed language, so if you have a French (or Portuguese :-) ) version of an app, the priority will go to French/Portuguese language and the English will be at the bottom!

You could write a small program that searches the collection.nml, sorts the title name into the appropriate alphabet and appends a numbering in front of the title name? Just an idea, I think you can even do it with a batch file.

Thanks for the information, but I can't change the file name in traktor, nor delete it when I right-click.Is there a parameter to check in the settings ? I can't change or delete the name.

Have you already tried changing the name in the file (collection.nml)?

Aaaah…..there's been a change....I've just capitalized Eric Clapton in my dd folder and once Traktor is relaunched, it's in the right place ......but.......it's still written with éric and not Eric in Traktor.

And in my opinion the tagging should be done before importing them to Traktor.

The tagging in MP3tag can be done rather quick, and easy!

    1. Load the files of the album or EP in MP3tag.
    2. Look up album or EP on Discogs.
    3. Click on the release code to save it in the clip board. (r5149569)
    4. In Discogs, go to Tagging Sources and choose 'Discogs Release ID'.
    5. Paste the code and click search.
    6. It will show the album, compilation or EP as result.
    7. Click 'save' and see the magic happen.
