No selection of instruments in S49 display.

Hi there,

I have the problem that in the Native Instruments Kontrol S49, on the display, I can't open the browser (it's grayed out) and when I open Cubase (it's set up in Mackie Control under Kontrol S49) I don't get the option to make a selection either Display, with which I can control the instruments via the S49.

The S49 works, I have sound, but no display and no selection of instruments in the S49 display.

P.s.: Display shows only "Default MIDI Template".

    Maybe would have helped if you had told if it is a S49 MK1, S49 MK2 or S49 MK3 ?

    Also what is computer type , OS version ? Native Access version ? and Komplete Kontrol app version ? and keyboard firmware version ? (is firmware up to date ?)

    Hi thanks and sorry…, using Windows 11, Native Access Version: 3.10.3

    It is the S49 MK3, Komplete Kontrol App: 3.2.1

    S49 MK3: Driver Version 10.0.22621.358

    First things to check is the article linked to above.

    Also then open Komplete Kontrol app to check if the keyboard is present and check marked in settings for midi ?

    Besides then this could also be just another way that the famous USB-C connect problems shows itself , so also check the USB connection setup .

    Yes, under the Midi Options in Komplete Kontrol, is show the S49.

    Any idea, perhaps, please?

    Which version of Komplete Kontrol are you running? Under your MIDI Preferences which Inputs are checked?

    Most likely it has to do with the USB connection , please check this comment by Matthew_NI and the discussion.

    Since this is also something that on Mac could be connected with not giving full disk access to N.I. apps then there is also a slight chance that it is access issue such as A.V. , user access issues or so on , but more likely it is a connection issue which I mentioned initially.

    After reinstalling all Instrument-Packs (63),

    in Komplete Kontrol i have all Instruments on the Display of S49.

    P.s.: I don't know what connection the two have
    but now it's working.

    Thank you for the feedback and for sharing the solution you found.

    Neither do I understand the connection , but let us just hope that the fix stays .

    At Matthew_NI , perhaps you can enlighten us all as to why a S49 MK3 keyboard can not see installed expansions and why it needs to all be re-installed for the keyboard to see it ? (EDIT : ping for Matthew_NI removed after user later returning to say that it were the USB after all anyway)

    Hi again,

    the Problem was the USB Port. I have now connected my S49 with an USB 3 Port; AND NOW IT WORKS:

    But i have another problem… The "Battery" Instrument, shows an error

    The strange is, that Battery isn´t shown in Native Access but in Komplete Kontrol it´s shown.

    I found this:

    Note: NI Expansions include kits for BATTERY 4, which appear in KOMPLETE KONTROL. However, these kits can only be loaded with a valid license for BATTERY 4. When you try to open it, the above error message is also displayed.

    I found this: Note: NI Expansions include kits for BATTERY 4, which appear in KOMPLETE KONTROL. However, these kits can only be loaded with a valid license for BATTERY 4. When you try to open it, the above error message is also displayed.

    What you writes , when you add your own quote, gives the impression that you do not have a license for Battery 4. Or you mean that you have a license and still it does not show in N.A. anyway.

    Well , there might be a problem with Battery 4 or with your N.A.. So , all there is to do at the moment is to try and reset stuff to see if that works.

    Resetting the N.A. XML sometimes fixes some N.A. problems so exit N.A. then delete the N.A. XML then reboot and open N.A. again to see if that makes any difference , ref. : resetting the Native Access XML file , look at section 8 here : My Product is Missing in Native Access

    Same goes for the Komplete Kontrol app , only it is the DB that must reset : Resetting the Komplete Kontrol Database (Komplete Kontrol Error Message: "Loading Issue - Plug-In not found. Please open the standalone application...")

    I don´t have a license for Battery 4.

    But it´s shown in Komplete Kontrol.
