Conflicts with MacOs and updated Kontakt 7?

I updated Kontakt 7 player, opened it and my Mac M2 crashed, would not startup again. Still not working after using Disk repair utility and re-installing Sonoma.

Is this similar to the kernel panic issues I read about and somehow related to the ultrawide monitors? Apple indicates I may have to wipe hard disk and start over…I can understand how there could be a software crash, but to render my computer unusable? I don’t know enough about this to prevent it from happening again.
