Yesterday, I received my new S88 mk3, upgrade from S6 mk2, unpacked it, went through the initial setup and got to the firmware update, which failed with the dreaded "controller failed to boot into firmware mode". Spent 4 hours trawling through posts, trying to find drivers trying different cables, gave up around midnight. This morning, I hooked it up an old i5 MacBook Air, got the same error (yes!), but the tried the "retry button" after power cycling the keyboard. Same error! In frustrating, I kept hitting the button, and lo and behold! The update started!!!

So I'm not sure what the issue was and if the same click-click-click strategy (which, working in ITas a system engineer, DBA, architect) for 30 years is not the first thing I'd do :) would have worked on Windows, but hey, it might be a solution for others!

What surprised me is that so many people have problems with S-series mk3 out of the box, and that NI does not address that.

    Cheers

    Johan
