hi all, am am a newbie here and i am sure the topic has been discussed before but i am pulling my hair out trying to get the keyboard to work.it does not go past the firmware update page. despite following many tips ,tricks and guidelines from N.I. i still have no luck.

i did at one stage manage to get to "expand other devices" in the device manager but i cant get to that now either. a little help or other ideas would be very much appreciated as i have parted with a lot of my pension money just to see a row of prety lights going backwards and forwards. am also very dissapointed that there is no direct contact available with N.I.

hi, i have had further success ,now being able to play and hear in the daw. it was the settings but as there are so many of them and for different things it was hard to find the right ones. i have one more hurdle to over come and that is getting the list of plugins onto the keyboard screen but i am sure i will find the solution.i have had many tips and prompts from different sources so many thanks to you all.

This is the step by step document I METICULOUSLY followed to get my S88 MK3 firmware updated initially. Read and follow each step. It worked for me. Copy and paste the link below into your browser.

    file:///C:/Users/david/Downloads/Kontrol%20S88%20MK3%20-%20Windows%20Driver%20&%20Firmware%20Installation%20(4).pdf

That link is very unlikely to work, it's a link to a downloaded document on the user's PC. Have you put in a support ticket to get assistance with this ? If not that would be a good start.

Just for reference mine installed ok with no additional steps. Connected directly to a USB-C connector on the PC motherboard using the USB-C cable included. Bear in mind that the update takes a LONG time, I think mine sat there saying "updating" for 10 minutes or more.

As i said i am new here on this site and indeed new to n.i.software and keyboards .where is the tab for putting in the support ticket and i might as well have a look at the link from da and start there, also i had no response after 15 mins saying it was updating so will try again and leave it for 1/2 hour or so see what happens but i am not confident

hi, after leaving it updating for 2 hours there was still no luck . i did notice that after the first fail and i go through the recommended steps from n.i. that when you go into device manager and expand it shows kontrol s88 mk2. if i turn off the keyboard and turn on again it changes to mk 3 however when you start the update process again and the keys turn on and off in that process it changes back to mk2 i am confused and getting a little annoyed as i am going round in circles .it appears that when trying to update it is seeing the mk2 when the firmware (3.16.3) is mk3

At this point I'd suggest going through the support system and put in a ticket to get help. You can do that here by logging into your NI account and going here - Komplete Kontrol – Native Instruments (native-instruments.com)

hi all, i have finally managed to get the firmware update running with the help of a computer expert. it seems that the file kontrol s88 mk3 dfu was in the wrong place and not being reconised so that side of things is ok just need to set it up in cubase 13 which i cant find on the net only cubase 12 and that is a little different but i will get there. thanks for all your comments

Glad you got it all working. Cubase 13 was pretty much plug and play for me so you should be ok there.

hi, the keyboard is operational in albeton lite but i cant get it to work in cubase not sure if i have it configured correctly as i cant find anyone on line using s88 mk3 and cubase 13

How far have you got in Cubase? Does any part of the keyboard work, e.g. the keybed/transport controls?

i have gone through the integration process and made some progress however it is still not fully fuctional

1 when i turn the knobs on the loaded channel the corresponding sliders move (when in cubase)

2 when in kontact without the daw loaded i can hear samples playing when selected by mouse but when i hit the s88 keys i hear a piano regardless of what sample i select but in turning on cubase it dissapears

3 there is still no sound from the s88 keys when in cubase

4 when i did load up kontakt outside of daw there were a few no valid licence issues relating to vst's but i dont think that should stop the keybed talking to the daw

5 when s88 is first turned on there are a lot of cc's on the screen so am unsure if they are configured correctly. as i said initially i am a newby to both cubase and the s88 but i have had a bit of sucess using the keylab 88 in that it was fully functional out of the box basically and was able to put down half a dozen tracks.

i prefer the feel of s88 keybed but am getting to the stage where i regret the purchase

@Jeremy_NI , perhaps some of your DAW insight will be able to solve this ?

@bojen8 Have you gone through all these steps?

Open Komplete Kontrol in standalone, is everything functional there?
