Maschine+ Same CC in different MIDI Channels

Hi All!

I’d love to use my Novation SL with Maschine+, and map 8 knobs to 8 Groups for Filter Cut-Off on all the Poly Synths, in different channels.

Another CC for Resonance, different pages for Envelopes, and so on.

I know I can do a midi learn with Maschine 2 to map different CC numbers to all the Synths in different channels for the same MIDI action, but I can’t manage to make the Maschine 2 to filter MIDI Messages in different MIDI channels with the same CC, it appears that it’s only possible to map different CC numbers. This would be useful to free CC’s, keep the Maschine in Scene Mode, and use different zones and pages in a Template on the SL.

I used to play with a Fantom X6 and this worked amazingly well. CC#7 was used to control the volume of all channels, for instance. All the parts shared the same CC numbers.

But whenever I do a MIDI Learn and tweak CC#7 knob in Group A in channel 1, and then a different CC#7 knob in Group B and MIDI channel 2, it forgets the first learned knob, although it’s in a different channel on both my SL and Maschine 2.

Do I need to do some specific MIDI settings to work like the way I’d love to? 🧐

Hope this description makes any sense.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

I could map every channel every note and Program Change to change Scenes, Selection or Lock States but with MIDI (5 pin in & out ) Cable Maschine can control it's self you can trigger Lock States or place them on time line wherever you want ( or play them in keyboard mode ).

I assume it's possible but I didn't succeed with controlling any MIDI message ( unless program change ).

If you succeed please share 😃 info

AFAIK, Maschine simply is incapable of discriminating CC channel information. The CC always go to the focused Sound.

    This is a major flaw.

Correct, Maschine ignores MIDI Channels for CC's, they are global so-to-speak.

Yeah, I gave this some more thought and may be wrong on the „CC always go to the focused Sound“ part. They’re more probably „globally available“ as you suggest.

That would mean you have 128 CC available to map to any destination. Not ideal and probably a PITA to set up, but it should be sufficient for most performance applications.

Having different set's of Lock States recorded as notes playing in empty group on empty Pad in keyboard mode can transform sound in to several different tracks , for me it's amazing option.

Sometimes I do quick events to get instant morfing sounds ( but first Note is always quiet and second is active so that's my fade in ) .

For now it's giving me ability to play for hours and it would be great to have. Standard Modulation visible lane but nothing is perfect and we have to find solutions and still be productive.
