How is he able to access more than 16 slices in a group?

@1:19 mark he goes to pad mode on his MK2 (I have the Mikro 3) and it allows him to access more slices.

I also noticed that he doesn't have his chops applied to the sixteen pads. How is he able to do that?

    slices are applied to zones on a single sound slot. He's in keyboard mode; not pad mode.
