KK 3.10 start up issue in Logic Pro 10.8.1

Hi All,

Whenever I open KK3.10 in Logic 10.8.1 (Sonoma) for the first time my KK does this dance in the presets list.

In a nutshell, it jumps from the first preset in the list to the last for about 18 seconds before settling on the first. If my KK keyboard (MK2) is on, it will turn that into a disco (flashing) when the above has finished for a few seconds.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'd upload a clip if I could but this page doesn't seem to like them..

Cheers

@Scottkid Good to hear that the initial issue is not present anymore. Regarding the MK3, Kontakt and Logic, there is an ongoing bug, as you can read here: komplete kontrol mk3 crashing logic with Kontakt 7 (KT-8692)

Unfortunately the workaround does not work if you're on Sonoma but, until Apple fixes this issue, you can use the Komplete Kontrol plug-in instead of Kontakt, you'll get the same integration.

    @Jeremy_NI

I'm still getting non supported file type message when I try and add it to this.

It's currently in .mp4 or .mov

    Am i missing something?

@Scottkid The file might be too big for here, have you tried to compress it, in zip format for example, have you tried to upload it somewhere and share a link?

@Scottkid I've checked the video. What happens on the keyboard itself? Does it happen in Komplete Kontrol in standalone as well?

    It's fine in standalone KK.

It does it without the typing keyboard connected, so it's not a randomly stuck key.

Once the plugin has finished dancing around, it does this to my S49 MK2 if it's turned on.

So it's only in Logic when you load the plug-in.

Make sure that Komplete Kontrol and Logic have full disk access: How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

    Try to delete this file:

    Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs

Note: the User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click on Go in the menu bar and press down the Alt key. You'll now find the Library entry in the menu:

Open Logic, you should get a prompt asking you if you want to connect the keyboard, do it.

Do you still get this issue?

Now if you delete this file, it will reset Logic to default, if there's any unwanted MIDI setting that could cause this issue, it should get rid of it: (same location, it's the user library)

    Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic10.plist

    Unfortunately the problem remains.

@Scottkid We couldn't reproduce this issue. Do you have any other MIDI/USB device connected?

Please click on the NI logo in the Komplete Kontrol plug-in window. What version does it show? SAme as the standalone?

Can you check if there are any special readings in MIDI monitor when this occurs? How to Monitor the Input of a MIDI Controller

    Hi @Jeremy_NI

I removed other devices - no change

I'm running 3.11 on both - is there a download for a previous version ?

Attached is the midi monitor file and logic plugin reset.

To be honest it's not that big an issue for me, I'm sure it'll sort itself eventually.

I do appreciate your help though 👍️

@Scottkid Check the settings of Logic -> MIDI If you deselect the Komplete Kontrol DAW - 1 port, restart Logic, does it fix the issue?

    Hey @Jeremy_NI

Sorry it took a while to get back to you.

Unfortunately the above didn't make a difference.

I reinstalled Logic, no change. I also rolled back my KK to 2.9.6 ( I have an S25 as well ) and strangely it replicated the previous issue. This leads me to believe that it is a Logic issue as that has never happened before.

I can ignore the extra time wasted while KK does its merry dance but I noticed it becoming very unstable after while, especially when adding other instances of KK. To combat this I just made a template in Logic with as many as I thought I would need and so far it's reasonably stable.

I suppose time will tell if this is an isolated incident or not.

@Scottkid After looking in our bugs, I found an old one (KBDSW-6607). In this bug report I also found a workaround. Hopefully this will work for you.

Open Logic, press the letter d to show the midi events list. Untick System Exclusive.

    Does that work for you?

    @Jeremy_NI

It's still the same but i'm learning to live with it.

In your absence, I purchased a S61 MK3 and while it does the same thing ( flashing ) I've noticed another potential bug. The Auto button doesn't switch off. It'll change logic to Touch automation but pressing it again doesn't turn it back to Read. It's running the latest firmware etc.

The question is, could this be related to my first issue or should I report this as a separate issue ?
