komplete kontrol mk3 crashing logic with Kontakt 7 (KT-8692)

Ah cool, thanks for getting back and clarifying! Good thing I asked, I need to move my machine soon to the new Macbook Pro M3 - which only comes with Sonoma. Hopefully it will be soon
Maybe you have some infos as well, when Komplete Kontrol MK3 S88 will have Sonoma support as well? And I am really waiting for my Komplete Audio 6? I noticed it didn't work at all, but with some update (.2 or .3.1?) Now it gets recognized by Sonoma. But an official support is very welcomed, since I want to move to the new machine
Thanks a lot :)

Hi!
Is there any news on this issue? :)

Try giving Logic Pro full disk access (mine did not have it by default) and then rebuilding defaults
I was experiencing constant crashing in Logic 10.8.1 with Sonoma 14.3.1 but after doing that, everything seems to be working now. Perhaps it's older version of Logic that have Sonoma issues? I have the S61 MK3
Some other users recommended disabling MIDI 2.0 and making sure only MK3 MAIN and DAW were selected (not EXT or 2.0), so I did that. Regrettably I didn't do any testing to see if one specific change was responsible for the crashes, I just know it stopped after making those changes.
MIDI -> Inputs
Hope it helps.

Thanks for taking the time to provide those possible solutions. I tried them all and still experiencing the Kontrol S49n Mk3 crashing Logic Pro when I load an instrument in Kontakt 7 on Sonoma.

Hi there!
Kontakt 7.9 is out, Sonoma is supported. But in update details there is "KNOWN ISSUE Crashes when loading content in Logic Pro in combination with the KKS MK3 keyboards, very rare if the KKS MK3 is not connected"
Does it mean this bug will never be fixed? Very sad, I recently bought MK3/88 and the keyboard is not usable in logic/kontakt7.
As for me, Komplete Kontrol is not as good as Kontakt7. And there is lots of current projects, where I used Kontakt7, so with my new MK3 they crash.

I’m in the same boat.
Read the release notes yesterday for Kontakt 7.9 and also saw that reference to “Known Issue”.
Also agree that Komplete Kontrol is not as good. It’s klunky and not very user friendly.I think that NI saying the bug lays with Apple in this situation doesn’t sound right, and they’re just buying time. Haven’t seen any evidence of this from NI even though they’re not obliged to disclose (which makes it an excellent cover).
All NI needs now are some customers finding out from Apple that it’s not on Apple but on NI to fix. They’re not thinking through how this can impact reputation (low competence and low empathy).
All of my experiments point to the Kontrol s49N mk3 keyboard being the variable that crashes Logic with Kontakt on Sonoma, but NI keep insisting the issue lies solely with Apple Sonoma. Granted it’s probably a combination, but many customers are still left in the dark and with an expensive keyboard that doesn’t work with Kontakt in Logic on Sonoma.I wonder if Jacob Collier is on Sonoma? He’s the new poster boy and I’ve seen his videos with his new NI Keyboard and Kontakt in Logic.

Kontakt 7.9 is out right now. I'm running it on Windows so I can't vouch for Mac

Just confirming that Logic stil crashes when opening Kontakt 7.9 content. I see that it’s a known issue… Any news as to when this might get fixed? Is Apple responding to NI’s inquiries? This is a pretty major issue so I’m hoping it is on the mend as we speak.

Hey @pophitpro @Matt_W We are waiting on Apple, why would we need to buy time? We don't shy away from recognizing bugs and their origins, as you can see on this forum. Unfortunately for now the only workaround is to use Komplete Kontrol.

It would be nice to know a bit more about the specific issue that Apple needs to address regrading this problem of Sonoma + Logic + Kontrol MK3 + Kontakt.
Very curious that there is a distinction between using Kontakt vs Komplete Kontrol in causing this problem. Does it relate to how graphics are being handled?

@Matt_W yes - the crash happens when KSMK3 is used with Logic and with Sonoma. That is not in doubt.
However, the root cause of the crash has been identified as an Apple side issue, which they have acknowledged, and filed as a bug on their side, and intend to fix.
Until they fix it, there is nothing more that can be said, or done.
I follow up with them weekly.
Please stop speculating beyond that. I know it is frustrating - it sucks for us too.

Hey everyone, Logic 11 was released a few days ago, it looks like this version fixes this issue. We got many positive reports. We'd strongly recommend to update Logic 11, as well as Sonoma 14.5. Let us know if this fixed it for you.

I think the bug from Apple is fixed in Logic 11 so it should work, is for me on S61 mk3

Apple have confirmed to us that it is fixed in Logic 11.
We have confirmed this to be true in our own tests.
The solution is to upgrade to Logic 11.
