komplete kontrol mk3 crashing logic with Kontakt 7 (KT-8692)

I'm really excited to have received my Komplete Kontrol S88 MK3 keyboard today. However, when I started using it, I encountered a problem where many instruments in Kontakt 7 would cause the host to crash when the keyboard is connected (some instruments like Alicia's Keys and Action Strikes don't crash, but others like Amati Viola and Hybrid Keys do). The instruments load normally when I turn off the keyboard's power. Also, there's no issue loading these instruments in the Komplete Kontrol software when the keyboard is connected, and running Kontakt 7 standalone with the same instruments works fine too. Using Rosetta to open Logic and then loading Kontakt with the same instruments also doesn't cause any issues.

I'm using Logic Pro X on macOS Sonoma 14.2.1, and all my sounds are legitimate NI products. How can I resolve this issue?

If you are a previous operating system than MacOS Sonoma, please follow these steps:

Close Logic and delete this file:

    Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs

Note: the User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click on Go in the menu bar and press down the Alt key. You'll now find the Library entry in the menu:

If your operating system is MacOs Sonoma, then please note this bug is filed under this reference: KT-8692

It is being looked into. As a workaround you can use the Komplete Kontrol plug-in instead.

We are also working on full official compatibilty with Mac Os Sonoma.

@TanX I'm sorry, I just saw that you were on Sonoma, the fix doesn't work if you're on Sonoma. The issue is being worked on (Bug number: KT-8692), as well as full official Sonoma support. In the meantime you can use the Komplete Kontrol plug-in instead of Kontakt.

Yes - until Apple fix the bug, it will continue to cause Kontrol S MK3 and Kontakt 7 to crash on Sonoma, when used together. We are in communication with Apple.

    Kontakt 7 supports Sonoma.

Kontrol S MK3 does not yet support Sonoma, but will soon (subject to resolution of the above).

Komplete Kontrol 3 does not yet support Sonoma, but will soon.

Thanks again for this clarification of current status of these 3 products + Sonoma

Have some projects on hold waiting for these updates and looking forward to the fixes.

    KK3 is next.

KSMK3 will be the last to make the jump (per the issue).

I am a little confused by your message. I don't find anything in the release notes of Kontakt 7.8.1 that it supports Sonoma.

In the article https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/de/articles/13671802084765-Kompatibilit%C3%A4t-von-NI-Produkten-mit-macOS-14-Sonoma Kontakt is not listed either.

    Can you please verify?

    Thanks a lot

    Ah - here's what happened.

Kontakt 7.8.1 -> not officially Sonoma compatible

Kontakt 7.9 -> officially Sonoma compatible

Kontakt 7.8.1 is released, 7.9 is unreleased but releasing very soon. When 7.8.1 released, so too did email comms intended instead for 7.9. So this introduced internal and external confusion - thinking we had shipped support for Sonoma. Until 7.9, it is not official. I too fell into that confusion. My apologies.
