I love the Streaming from Beatport, and have learned to use looping and phrasing with effects more than sampling. Also duplicate tracks with some hot cues or pitch changes is my workaround for not having a loop recorder.

My opinion is that most people using Beatport streaming probably are not really doing much major work with cues or sampling anyway. The majority of DJs don't really do a bunch of crazy mixes. They play a track and blend to the next with maybe a filter or delay

@_Theo_ this may not be your workflow, but it is amazing to have access to all the music.

PK The DJ, you are wrong. You do have the right to more or less record yourself in any shape or form you like as long as it is for private use, hence the license is the (european) "private use" license. This is regulated in Europe, and the discussion goes all the way back to the good old days of using cassette tapes.

Then again, my point has nothing to to do with the license itself (which I have carefully analysed).

If people wants to regulate usage through license bring it on, tell me to click whatever needs to be clicket and whatever needs to be signe, however DO NOT limit any software usage which will always be a bad implementation that benefits noone. Nobody will ever be greatfull such implentation has been introduced into any product and say "hey, this is a great feature, I really love this thing when the software tells me I cannot do this or that. Without it I would be totally clueless".

If you cannot see the point why the software limit is pointless, then fine, but do not turn this chat into some license trolling.

I believe all that can be said regarding this subject has been put forward. Only time will tell who's thoughts and ideas where the better ones...

So this instantly made me think of this thread.

I can easily see this being a limitation when Traktor adds Stem separation. And Beatport requires another limitation. I would hope it is only applied to the streamed tracks. But really I don't see myself using a feature like Stem separation for only my own local files.
