Yep, uses 5 W but needs 15W to boot, then 5W is OK again after boot. haha what the heck

Can you check what your gadget says peak consumption is during boot pls? I assume it's a very short spike

It gives peak current draw, but it might not be high enough resolution? If it's only for a very short time, my USB meter might not sample fast enough to see it.

I might have more answers sometime next week. I had ordered a Cypress/Infineon EZ-PD protocol analyzer that was supposed to arrived yesterday (11 Jan) but something happened and now it's not supposed to arrive until Monday the 15th.

Oh, sorry i confused the threads, i shared my first tests here: https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/comment/124981/#Comment_124981 But though this was the same thread. 🙈

OH, i was gonna buy a cheap PD trigger thingy from aliexpress to run some tests but yours seems a whole lot fancier, I'll wait for your results then. :D

Ahh ok interesting and yeah pretty much what I saw. That dimming is quite interesting itself. That's what I saw with my cheap USB power meter. If I had PD messages enabled and the keyboard said not enough power, it would work if I disabled the PD messages. But once I re-enabled PD messages the screen would dim just like you saw and current draw was about 250mAh/0.250A.

Yeah I'm hoping it will help. It's supposed to show the messages that go back and forth between the host and the device. And show the actual negotiation for the power contract. We'll see this USB-Power Delivery stuff is new to me, never really messed with it previously and don't know that much about it. But it's interesting and I'm sure this will come up at work too, so it's worth looking into.

Surprisingly it showed up this morning. Just started messing with it now so I haven't started looking into packets and trying to find differences, but you're correct @D-One at certain points during the start up process it requires almost an amp. The color choice on the graph is terrible btw, I hope I can change them. The barely visible blue line is current.

After reading here with interest, I sent the 67W back to the store and am now using a 20W power supply. It works perfectly.
